My wife has a 06 Limited that was her commuter. She no longer has to commute and she is letting me start a build on it.

I really hate the fake chrome look on the roof rack, front grille and side moldings. Do other model Liberty's have either black or painted grille, side molding and roof rack rails that could be swapped out for the chrome parts? I know I could paint them, but it is a PIA and a direct swap and then selling or trading these is easier.

Also, I prefer the look of the renegade fender flares with the riveted look and not painted to match. Can they be swapped onto a Liberty?

Last question for now. I have done a LOT of searching and have not found anyone that has replaced the front seats in a Liberty. We have the leather, heated and power seats, but they are not comfortable IMHO and I want to go with something else. I am not sure if I want to go with a racing seat or a nice cushy leather. Any links to other resources are appreciated.

TIA

For the grill and flares, check ebay or your junkyard. Model year 2005-07 should fit your 2006.

As for the seats nobody makes aftermarket seats to fit the Liberty. You might be able to fabricate seat mounts.

Will the Renegade flares and grill swap directly on without modifications?

I have an 2K6 Sport and would be willing to swap the grill, roof rack, and what ever shinys you don't want. I personally like a conservative amount of chrome. Oh and If you want stock cloth seats I've got them too. :D

I've seen a few Limiteds in the area that have body colored grille, side moldings, etc.

Are they black or painted to match your rig? If they are black, I'll trade.

I say just paint what you have
if you plan a "build" then you plan to wheel
if you plan to "really wheel" then I would put some bed liner on the flairs

as far as the seats go I have heard other complain of "uncomfortable seats"
we have an '03 LTD and now that the seats have some milage on them they are great ,they were not bad before but even better now

keep in mind this is from a guy who "built a TJ" and did that with wheeling it in mind
also to me "build" means a bunch more than changing the way it looks
You say "build" and I think
all new suspension
tires
gears
lockers
bumpers
winch
maybe lights
ect.
not just changing the look
that is almost as bad as the chrome on it

Painting it myself is always an option, I just hate to paint. Always makes such a mess and requires more patience than any other work you do to a rig.

I will be building it for off-road, but it will not see nearly what it will be capable of. I have a H1 for my wheelin adventures. This will still be my wife's car, so it will be on the road a lot. I expect it will not see much more difficult than Hollister, Anza, Pismo and Mojave Road.

As far as build, I posted this in another thread, but here is my list so far. Hoping to finish in 6 to 8 weeks.

Lift Kit - Still have not decided on the kit but the Frankensomthing is likely
Powdercoat the wheels black
New tires - MT Baja Claw Radial (Going to try and fit 32" somehow)
Pioneer AVIC-N3 Nav System
Parrot 3200LS Bluetooth Phone Kit
Front ARB Bumper and winch
Rear bumper (Probably the one the guy on this site makes)
Replace front seats with something more comfy
Replace or paint all chrome with black parts
Cargo basket with 4 forward facing and 2 rear facing Hella lights
Try and replace rear seats with 2 bucket seats
Fab up a roll cage and install 4 or 5 point harness systems
Buy or build a front receiver so I can run a small snow plow
Onboard CO2 System
HI Lift, Shovel and Axe mounting system
Figure out how to get full size spare on back door
Couple of gas and water cans

I will only do gears if I find I need them. If I do gears, I will throw in lockers at the same time.
