Hi Jeep Liberty family ….

I have an Amazon special (don’t judge) Atoto radio installed in old Blue. 2008 Kk 140k w/ the adapter.

It randomly crashes and reboots. Is this a CANBUS communication issue? Ive swapped the radio out with another unit and still happens randomly.

Any thoughts? KK Gremlins at play?

I just installed an ATOTO F7 in my Jeep Commander about 2 weeks ago. It has crashed and rebooted a couple of times, but doesn’t seem to do it all that often. Or at least not often enough to bother me. How often do you have trouble with yours?

I went with the F7 rather than the S8 because it’s Linux and simple, and I figured it would be more stable than the Android OS units. Which one have you got?

ATOTO F7 XE

Family member has one un their F250 for a few years and doesn’t have any issues. So it seemed like a good choice.

The issue is intermittent. No pattern i can discern yet. Goes multiple days w/o issue. And yesterday crashed 2x’s in a 20 minute period.

Same model as me. The unit lost contact with my phone 3x in 20 minutes today, then automatically got the connection back each time. I don’t know if it is my phone (which is an iPhone 12 and kind of old) or the radio.

Have the sa e experience with both an iPhone 12 and 14. I got a replacement unit and it happened again. Maybe it’s the interface ? PAC RP4-CH11 used here.

I have the CRUX SOOCR-26 interface, so I think we can rule the interface out since it does it with both.

It’s interesting that the iPhone connects via both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It seems like the Wi-Fi is not disconnected but the Bluetooth is when this happens. But I am not completely sure of this.

I’ve noticed the wifi - bluetooth issue too. I emailed with atoto customer support w/o success. Their resolution was to send another unit. Same issue. Next option im considering removing interface as a test.

Another thing I have not gotten around to is registering my unit with ATOTO and updating the firmware version if it is not the latest one. Have you done this yet?

No. Haven’t looked into that either. Maybe the logical option.

I looked at the interface. Without it, the current harness doesn’t allow radio to power on. It would take cutting into the main harness or getting another plug and play option

Hmmm. It is unseasonably warm here in Philly (80’s in November!?) so I can’t confirm if mine does that in the cold yet. But if it does I’ll come back and post it here.

I think there is a reset button on the lower left of the faceplate that you can push with a paperclip. Haven’t tried that yet.

Was 49 degrees in So-Cal. Tried resetting. Same shutdown issue happening. These KK’s have lots of Gremlins as they age. So who knows where the problem is.
