2005 Jeep Liberty Sport 3.7L V6 Automatic
I’m having troubles when leaving work. Everytime I fire up the vehicle and start leaving my parkade I need to come to a full stop to allow the garage door to open. When I do the vehicle will no longer move when in drive. I have to restart the vehicle/ try moving the vehicle from R to D to get it to start moving again.

The whole time the engine is still running and the rpm’s still go up when I hit the gas pedal just feels like it isn’t grabbing a gear.

Would love some ideas as to if anyone else has had this problem.

Firstly I'd Check ATF+4 Transmission fluid on level ground. Is it showing correct level on dipstick?

Possible that the shift interlock cable is not adjusted properly?
Hopefully others may chime in with ideas...

I suppose the next step is also to have a Transmission shop read any stored or pending codes.
Clutch volume index %... = ?

Thank you for the help! I’ll take a look into it, it’s not shooting any codes yet but we’ll see.

Mine does this every once in a while and it is also leaving work, but adding 4-8 oz of fluid to the transmission makes it work again. I should drop the pan and change filters
