Hi guys, my temp gauge rarely gets above 1/4, never seen it at half. My heaters work & blow hot air when needed, although on long drives the temp gets to 1/4 and then when I’m slowing down it soon goes back down.

Is this normal?
What effect is this having?

Thank you

No, you are running cold. It will reduce power and fuel economy and potentially slightly increase engine wear.
Time for a new thermostat

What year model, and is it a diesel?
If a diesel, it should look like the picture when at normal temperature.
If it is running at 1/4 the gauge, your thermostat has failed and needs to be replaced.
Don't waste your money on any cheap chinaism knockoffs, they don't last or are bad right out of the box.

Yep! Definitely doesn’t get to that temp. Looks like it’s definitely failed. It’s a diesel & 2007!
