I figured that might be it but we torqued them to make sure but it still makes the noise.Check the rear shock mounting bolts and make sure they are tight and torqued to spec!

We’ve moved the spring to the right spot before trying to find the problem but it didn’t seem to help. We also have rocked the jeep a bunch but it doesn’t make any noise.Ok
Make sure the rear spring is sitting on its perch and that the rubber spring isolator is in the correct position . Have someone rock the Jeep back and forth while you are under the Jeep. Maybe you’ll hear the noise and see the problem.

If you still have the old shocks compare the diameter of the upper and lower mounting bushings to the new shocks and make sure they are the same. If not you may need to install a bushing sleeve. We’ve moved the spring to the right spot before trying to find the problem but it didn’t seem to help. I do have the old shocks still and will check that out tomorrow. My main concern is why would it be the right side and not both?If you still have the old shocks compare the diameter of the upper and lower mounting bushings to the new shocks and make sure they are the same. Could be weight distribution, rear spring condition, etc. Also check lug nuts for tightness. Ya never know!I do have the old shocks still and will check that out tomorrow. My main concern is why would it be the right side and not both?
Alright I appreciate the quick responses! However, we took the whole wheel off not too long ago and looked at everything to see anything out of the ordinary but it seemed fine. We torqued the wheel back on tooCould be weight distribution, rear spring condition, etc. Also check lug nuts for tightness. Ya never know!

It was my uncle that actually replaced them and I was there. They didn't mess with anything other than the shocks from what I seen but I can double check.Check the torque on the sway bar links as well. Maybe the shop disconnected them while installing the shocks?
I read that the torque specs were around 80-90lbs, but we double checked and torqued them to around 100lbs I believeBack in the day, it was a common issue that aftermarket shocks had a slightly shorter sleeve. The fix was to over tighten the bolt...
I had a similar problem with the driver’s side shock. The shock was loose even though the bolt was completely tight. I discovered that the bolt was actually worn. A new bolt fixed the problem. The passenger rear shock is making a strange thud or thumping noise when driving, especially over bumps. I recently had the shocks replaced. The left rear sounds fine. Has anyone had issues like this?
