You will struggle to get more than 3" the IFS won't like it!
Lifts are probably the most talked about subject on here, have a search and read, there is nothing I can say that hasn't been already said on here.
Very strange, sometimes you get odd issues when the battery is on its way out, the PCI BUS runs at higher voltage than modern CAN BUS so it's very susceptible to voltage dips especially cold starting a diesel.
My father in law doesn't use his much, when he starts getting issues it's time to put...
Did you download the manuals, this is a link to them...

Have a look at the cables and connectors around the gearbox, p0605 is a TCM fault, jeeps name for the gearbox controller.
I did some work at Port Headland years ago, beautiful country.
If you have a p0700 code then it's worth getting a garage with a scanner that can read transmission codes to see what fault codes are logged. Simple scanners only read engine codes.
I would check to see if there is a leak on the line to the actuator and check the controller pulls and holds a vacuum on that line when heat is selected, I think you will find it isn't regulating the vacuum.
Possibly your scanner is the problem, however the symptoms you are describing sound like a fault on the BUS or a module plugged into it pulling it down. Have you checked all the fuses?
Sounds like a faulty controller to me, or a big vacuum leak somewhere. I would take the controller out and investigate there first before thinking about taking the whole dash out.
I had one like that, there was muck stuck in the seal slot so when the pedal was pressed it nipped the piston. Had to pop the piston and seal out and clean the groove.
If it's drawing enough to kill a battery in 30 seconds and is cranking slowly it sounds like it's part sized. Or you have a major short circuit somewhere, I would expect something to be getting very hot with that much current! Look around the battery, alternator and starter for any issues and...
