    Heater core replace

2 schools of thought here - 1 - try to do the job without loss of ac. I wasted a LOT of time doing my first kj like this, only to have ro repeat when the evaporator core needed replaced a few months later. Most do not pull the hvac box totally out and do a lot of wiggle work. 2 - replace...

    No heat

Couple things: confirm that you have good flow out of the hoses coming into the heater core. Should be good and hot. If not, consider plugged plumbing there in that ‘trombone’ looking bypass hose, or a waterpump issue. My 04 had a plugged core that i verified by running a hose to one side of...

    No heat while idling

Couple things - Did you use the Mopar thermostat, and get it installed correctly, with the air bleed in the right direction? Assuming you did and used the HOAT / G05 coolant, I would be thinking water pump all day. The impellers get eaten up or break away from the shaft.

04 liberty 3.7 blown head gasket, I'm looking for a little advice please, here is my story.

Just the lifter -(lash adjuster) - unless the rocker looks worn. imo - when my 06 did it, i replaced all 12 adjusters. Being a used engine of unknown stats, that just made sense to me.

2004 liberty 3.7 plugs, coils and wires

There are no spark plug wires. The 3.7 uses coil over plug arrangement. Replace the plugs with the NGK copper ones, nothing fancy. If you want to do coils, Mopar or Standard motor products. Helpful hint: These old KJ jeeps are extremely particular with electrical components. Do yourself a...

04 liberty 3.7 blown head gasket, I'm looking for a little advice please, here is my story.

If it is a rocker, little to none, possibly. I had my 06 throw 2 off back last winter because the lifter collapsed with the low oil pressure at start up. I was dumb enough to drive a mile home, and lucky enough that the only issue was rough running. Think of it as a hard miss, because one of...

04 liberty 3.7 blown head gasket, I'm looking for a little advice please, here is my story.

Hard to say right off, but i think i’d pull the valve covers and have a look for a thrown/broken rocker. But I did not hear the noise, so it is just a guess.

Belt pulls far forward on 06 jeep liberty

stat - thermostat - follow lower rad hose back to the block. It is on the right side of the engine (left side as you look at it). Pay special attention to the orientation of the little brass button on the stat. It is an air bleed and it does make a difference when you put a fresh one back in.

Belt pulls far forward on 06 jeep liberty

Overheating and visual on the belt is your clue. Bad water pump all day. I would bet misaligned belt, but your shot is pretty clear, so I am voting WP. Replace the stat with a Mopar stat, and tensioner while you are in there. Only other that could cause mis-alignment issue is the PS...

    Ac compressor/bearing

You did not state the year, but it should work for all 1st gen kj’s. 1 - remove the comressor and block the lines (if you want to restore ac later) or 1a - pull the compressor pulley and clutch assembly to allow the shorter belt to travel the correct pathway. - that way, your lines are not...

    Heat shields / clutch slave

In the old days, before hydraulics, there was a threaded rod that allowed adjustment of free play. Your issue seems to be in that area. Does the slave bolt only 1 way? No adjustment? Ive not seen a manual kj but did plenty of work on other breeds with manual

2003 Liberty 3.7L sport, Reman engine from Tri-Star, p0304 code

Just my opinion: I would try to source new pins and do the whole Circuit end to end. It needs a special pin tool to get them out and fairly easy to reinsert. For just the reasons you said - resistance issues. If a pin gets loose, spread, or green and crusty, the issue will persist. But then...

    P0335 turned into P0339

That is probably the culprit. If you read thru here, you will find the OEM sensors are almost a must to get the thing working right.

    P0335 turned into P0339

first thought is: Did you use an OEM Mopar part? These things are very picky on engine electrical components.

2003 Liberty 3.7L sport, Reman engine from Tri-Star, p0304 code

Don’t forget the old Duramax fuel injector trick - The 6.6 engines were notorious for cyl 3 and 7 setting codes for misfiring. No actual defect in the injector could be found. But —- thinking about what you said time-wise, it makes me wonder if the connection pin at the injector is heating...

Upper Rear Control Arm - stuck replacement

This is how I go at it now. It is IMO easier to get the ball joint into the bracket, then mount it to the diff. My usual is not to pull the tires and shocks. The back goes up on ramps and I work under from that. It is a bit tight, but I can always get the UCA out the drivers side. Since...

    Cheap AC Bypass **PICTURE**

You should not need to touch you fan shroud or fan clutch. Rotate the tensioner to loosen the belt. Pull it off any pulley and release the tensioner. The diagram shows removing the compressor or a/c compressor clutch. You have to do one or the other to make room for the shorter belt to run...

    Fresh P0174 code...

Chris : Greetings and congrats of FLAPS. Took me a minute or 5 to get that! Before you rush parts changing, check the basics like wiring and grounds. These old beasts have corrosion issues with wiring and insulation and such. If you do decide to change sensors, be sure to use the good ones...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Aw Johnny, you can't blame WV for sore shoulders. A more likely side effect of driving in my neighboring state is a semi-permanent state of vertigo and nausea from all those windy roads ! I live just across in MD and visit WV for some of the finest parts yards around. Glad you found the...
