cjw3cma,
Rola cargo baskets are amazing, they come in two pieces and you can get an 18" extension or two if you want to run it the entire length of the roof. Rola 59504 in case anyone wants one. They also sell for around $130 shipped if you find it on sale every couple months.
tommudd,
Exactly. So pick your poison. To the OP: how much time/miles do you actually spend in the dirt vs time/miles spent on pavement. If you are close to 50/50% get a detroit or a lunchbox, if its 25% dirt and 75% pavement hands down go with true track.
Wheel chirp, ratcheting/clunking in...
tommudd,
True tracks are helical gear driven locking actuation, it's super smooth and virtually unnoticeable when engaged. Daily driving is identical to open or limited slip diffs.
Regular detroit locker or baby version lunchbox are always locked unlocked true track and only disengage when...
tommudd,
I saw your pictures of how you cut it out but the PhotoBucket watermark ruined all the pictures. I followed the lines of the fog lights and it looks good. I did end up taking the under spoiler lip out completely. I have a couple extra aluminum skid plates laying around, might play...
tommudd,
You are silly to assume that I am calling you a shop. When I say shop I mean am ASE mechanic that every member in this forum takes their KJ to get serviced if they do not do it themselves and most legitimate shops will have a minimum hourly rate based on the state license requirements...
Doing10to20,
Based on how you babied your Liberty going up and down the ledges you might occasionally get a slight chirp when pulling into tight parking spots especially if you run a really soft or sticky MT tire.
You will not even know it's there daily driving, and the amount of time you...
tommudd,
Takes me 8-9 minutes to replace a wheel hub, 13 bolts off and on including lug nuts if I remember correctly. Oil change usually takes me 15-20 minutes to let the oil drain completely.
Once again I am not a shop that charges people by the hour. It is very interesting that it should...
Got stuck again today but doing things that a stock Liberty would not even come close to.
Comparison of Liberty in 22" of fresh snow on HT stock tires in first video and then again with 33" tractor tires, 2.5" lift and locked rear diff.
Stock tires, no lift, no lockers but a Trail Rated...
mercdudecbr600,
Your front diff is open and completely independent of the rear no matter if the rear is locked or not. So a locked rear will not affect front hubs when locked in 2wd. Only way a locked rear will affect your front hubs is if you are purposefully making tight turns on pavement in...
Doing10to20,
Get yourself a lunchbox/spartan for the rear and you will be unstoppable! Great video, always enjoy watching the little Libertys in action!
trialanderror,
Any luck figuring out where the vibration is coming from or getting it fixed? Also is it a "vibration" or a "death wobble"
Usually vibrations are caused by anything that is spinning. I would start with pulling the front drive shaft out that you replaced. Drive around and see if...
Front and rear pinch welds folded.
Since my 33" tires are really closer to 34" tall they rub just slightly front and rear under full compression. I need approximately 1" of extra clearance.
Front pinch weld cut with angle grinder and gently folded with a 3# sledge hammer. This sheet metal is...
Getting plastic trim prepped for restoration and hopefully to be all matching one color.
Decided to cut the fog lights out and make the stock bumper a little more aggressive and pre-runner looking. Under spoiler lip came out also.
Cleaning both the bumpers and fender flares today and...
lfhoward,
I am going to finish the other side, then onto plastic trim. Once it's back together I will see how it looks and might just have to do the diamond plate in green also.
Stay tuned for more shenanigans!
duderz7,
Girth hitch a tow strap around a tire that's spinning freely and strap it to a tree, deflating it will help keep the strap or rope on the tire. When you give it gas the rope or strap will wind around the tire and will pull the vehicle out, or really badly wrap around the axle.
I used...
