I am so envious of all ya'll. Last tank I made it about 7 miles before refueling, I am sure 60 hours if idling didn't help much.
But then again I'm running 33" tractor tires in 4x4 low and last week hit the all time high speed record of 16 miles per hour down my driveway!
Got a couple more body panels painted.
Just started snowing, had to take it out for a spin around the yard.
It's really gloomy out and snowing, lighting doesn't do this paint justice.
Here is what it looks like in the garage with 6,000K LED lights. I can not wait until it's finished...
duderz7,
Yes, where space and payload is very limited why bring a tool that is so big, bulky, heavy and specific? I used to have a come along in my truck for that very scenario, however I quickly discovered that a redneck winch is so much quicker and and easier to use and takes up no space in...
Can someone explain to me why you even consider a Hi Lift Jack for a unibody truck with plastic bumper for a serious adventure. It sounds just as serious as bringing your unicycle on that very same trip.
Victor Ray,
Where are you located? I have all those parts you need laying around in my spare Liberty and you can have them for $100 if you are in New England.
Check craigslist or Facebook marketplace. Most areas have a Jeep Liberty hoarder that has a yard full of them and will part out...
Shankster,
Interesting, I had the same issue with my Liberty however to me that was a safety feature more than annoyance or inconvenience. I solved the issue by actually paying attention when I pull the key out.
Jaybird91,
That bumper looks fantastic and I think it will look great on the Liberty with minimal work.
Don't take Tom too seriously, he only knows how to bolt up trinkets that someone else made and likes to discourage any new ideas.
Get that bumper. Mounting it is way easier and sturdier...
jp7794,
I don't think I'll be putting a swimming pool into this one this summer, but I have another fantastic Jeep Liberty project lined up once this one is complete, that one might get a hot tub in the back.
Stay tuned for more shenanigans!
eBay is a great source, however at the price with shipping on eBay or the price you pay at the dealer you will probably be better off just buying a whole non running Liberty on craigslist for a couple hundred and just stripping the fenders off it and scrapping the rest, will probably save...
Here is the main question, are you going to replace them yourself or pay someone to do it?
If you have couple basic hand tools and 30 minutes per side you can do it yourself. Takes less than 10 minutes to do it with power tools. Only 13 bolts to undo and bolt back up, that includes lug nuts...
lfhoward,
Thank you. I am kinda surprised with this Neon Green lacquer, no orange peel whats so ever and the few runs I had got covered up with subsequent coats.
I should be bolting up the panels in the morning once the paint cures a little better. So far I like it a lot more than the classic...
Painting has officially begun!
Started with grill and front fenders, got carried away with drivers door, rear drivers side door and hood.
Door sanded, removed and masked.
Decided to give primer a shot to see how much of a difference it will make.
2nd coat of green
3rd coat...
lfhoward,
Thank you, I am having a blast building this thing.
As far as the rear footwell area goes. I initially wanted to weld the doors shut fearing that the unibody is not structurally sound enough without the doors but i was wrong and keep on using the doors and the storage area behind...
Started repainting my Liberty pickup!
Rustoleum: good from far but far from good!
Initially it was supposed to be John Deere green but this neon green caught my attention and I just had to.
Most of the front end is painted and drying, should be ready to bolt back on tomorrow!

Billwill,
I was very surprised too, previous owner must have reflashed the ECU and erased SKIM. I am also glad its a 4 plug ECU so I will definitely be keeping it for future Liberty projects. Think earlier Liberties had the 3 plug ECUs.
They are brain-teazers for sure but they are also...
