    Recommended fuel pump replacement?

Haha it’s a shame multiple people have to go through 2+ pumps just to get one that works. Also FYI not sure what year you have, but my ‘04 (and an ‘03 I’ve seen in junkyard) has an “upper assembly” in the tank at the top; e.g. what you see at first when you drop the tank. The fuel pump you’re...

    Recommended fuel pump replacement?

‘04 Liberty here. Honestly I bought the expensive Delphi one off RockAuto and within a week the fuel line (made out of plastic) blew a gaping hole in itself. Had to drop tank again and this time used a much cheaper Carquest one from Advance Auto and has worked fine since (knock on wood lol)...

    42RLE Transmission Replacement - '04 Jeep Liberty

@MarksmanAkula very nice and great price for all that too! What shift kit did you go with btw (company and part # if you have it)? And can you tell any differences from it?

    2005 liberty- Overheating

This may sound silly but is it leaking coolant externally or in the engine, contributing to higher temps? E.g. check overflow coolant reservoir after driving and see what level looks like. Another thought was is your fan clutch engaging? Upon cold start you’ll hear a loud roar that goes away...

    Tranmission swap help

@Ben Ovalle might you have picked up a 45RFE transmission while your car has in it a 42RLE one, or vice versa? I feel like the 42RLE has just 1 big plug on it... but can’t totally recall. Try Google searching images (or photos on transmission remanufacture company websites) of both those...

Rust repair or time to sell

@ufatbastehd Rust doesn’t look too bad really. And for $700, assuming you’re able to do some of the work yourself, you can more than buy the parts you say the car needs: front strut assemblies, rear springs, radiator + coolant hoses + coolant... and should have plenty of beer $$ leftover. Low...

    Long-term EVAP troubles

Sorry, just to add more. As @adamkrz said that entire "upper" 2-piece fuel pump assembly is no longer made by Chrysler nor aftermarket. I presume due to the fuel tank explosion risk they're trying to get the cars off the road. Nonetheless, a junkyard is your only option if that ever goes bad...

    Long-term EVAP troubles

Hi Cobi - Like you I've gotten help on here over the years and try to give some back now. We have a 2004 Liberty KJ Sport trim w/ towing package (tow hitch + trans oil cooler from the factory). I chased a P0456 code for a few years before caving on the $300 to have a smoke test done (I can be a...

    42RLE Transmission Replacement - '04 Jeep Liberty

Thanks! Haha it was quite the job, but do-able no doubt. Of course car problems never happen in good weather; it was a cold snowy January that year here in the mid-Atlantic. We did it over 4 weekends (Sat-Sun) given work during the week + waiting for the dealer & RockAuto parts to come in. All...

    42RLE Transmission Replacement - '04 Jeep Liberty

Installation of new transmission: 1. As seen in photos, the new refurbished transmission came with the valve body separately shipped and packaged. Ensure its cleaned (wipe down) and if necessary, install to it the shift solenoid. 2. We pulled the old valve body out of the bad...

    42RLE Transmission Replacement - '04 Jeep Liberty

42RLE Removal and Replacement [2004 Jeep Liberty Sport] --- Figured I would contribute finally after using all the helpful information on the forums over the last few years! I inherited a ’04 Jeep Liberty (Sport trim) by means of my wife back in 2014 with about 75k miles on it. I am a GM guy...
