Well I sold her off yesterday
I get what you’re saying, but I also needed to replace the lower ball joints and the UCAs in the front. Plus the differential is going out on it. So it’s more of a combination of a lot of different things and this fan issue was the straw that broke the camels back...
Heard back from the mechanic. The radiator fan died and wasn't kicking on which caused the car to overheat when sitting at idle. They want $574 for the repair but I can easily fix it myself with a $100 fan from AutoZone. The issue is that I can't move the car without getting another tow or I'd...
Was sitting in the grocery store parking lot when the Jeep started overheating. It was chiming at me and I had no idea what was going on until I saw steam coming out of the hood. I immediately cranked off the engine. I thought about refilling it with coolant after letting it cool but I decided...
Easy to work on, reliable, and don't require thousands of dollars of repairs like my Jeep. I've got UCAs, lower ball joints, and a differential that need replacing so it's time to get rid of the Jeep. Just spent over $1k on a radiator repair and about $700 on an AC repair too.
Got the AC repaired this past weekend. I'm going to start looking for a new car/truck this month or next. Found some low mileage, used Nissan Frontiers that I'm going to take a look at.
Good luck with that. On my last Jeep, the AC pressure had to be replaced which was only $200. Hopefully it's the same issue. If it turns out to be the evaporator, I'll probably just sell the Jeep and buy a truck.
I recharged the AC on Wednesday and proceeded to leave town. Got in the car to go to work today and it's blowing hot air. I'm going to throw in some dye today and then take it to my mechanic. Hopefully it's a cheap fix.
The AC is barely blowing cold air now. I recharged it about a month or 2 ago, so it seems like there's a leak somewhere. I've got some of the freon laying around, so I'll recharge it and see how long it lasts.
Walked outside the garage on Saturday morning to find coolant slowly leaking out of the bottom of the Jeep. I checked underneath, and there was a slow leak from the radiator. Me and the wife were headed out of town that morning, so I ran the car over to the local mechanic. They're going to have...
I swear sometimes the easiest maintenance and repair can take 4x as long as it should. It's so frustrating when that happens but glad you got it on. I'm tempted to buy one of those covers because changing the rear diff fluid is a pain.
Tried to change my own oil again, and the oil change place way overtightened my oil drain plug. It was not budging at all, so now I gotta get a breaker bar to hopefully get this plug out. I'm so done paying to have my oil changed. Every time I go, they either overtighten the drain plug or the...
My old liberty had the 2.5" lift on it with stock sized all terrain tires, and I think I lost .5mpg so not much. Ironically, it got better gas mileage than my current liberty. Same engine too.
Got some Freon at the store and recharged the AC. It’s blowing icy cold now! Fingers crossed that I don’t wake up to find the Freon has leaked out by the morning
Well it's starting to heat up here in Phoenix, so I fired up the A/C this weekend. It wasn't blowing nearly as cold as it should be, so I'm off to AutoZone to get some freon and will recharge it this evening.
Quick question for y'all. My sister is coming into town in a couple of weeks and bringing her one year old daughter. She was asking if backward facing car seats fit in the back of the 2005 KJ. I've got no kids of my own, so can anyone help me answer this question?
I've run the Kumho Road Ventures on my KJs, and I love them. The road noise in minimal, great on wet and dry road, and great off-road as well. They also don't kill your gas mileage depending on which size you get. I've never had any slippage and never got stuck while offroading with them...
Decided not to repair or replace the rear differential, I'm just going to keep driving it until it goes out completely. I'll keep saving money that way when it does finally go out, I'll hopefully have enough money to get a nicer car or can just repair the differential at that time.
