What did you do to your jeep today?

Looks like it'd be easier to fit as well. Good luck with the MoT, mine failed on the bushes & I had no idea (the slightly unsettled rear end at M-way speeds I'd put down to shox) - Oh, & a rusty brake flexi ferrule.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Never heard it referred to as that but knew immediately what you were referring to, having become far too familiar with mine over the last few weekends. A right royal pita - & not for any of the reasons RA suggest.

If I can get this thing to put together I think I'll love it!

I doubt that engine was commissioned by "Jeep", more likely it was the cheapest one they could get off the shelf, so the trick might be to find out what it was from - & go to their dealers/parts specialists. Just another thought.

    2005 Liberty Sport

I'd be inclined to improve the headlights 1st. The later ones are supposed to be better, but I imagine the export ones offer more scope, as they use H4 bulbs so you can do the, now traditional, thing with uprated bulbs (I'd be cautious about old school high wattage ones in those plastic...

What did you do to your jeep today?

How the other half live! I have one rear caliper to rebuild & all three brake hoses to replace; preparation comprises hoping for no rain, 'cos, like all the other jobs, it'll be done out in the street. But, thanks for the timely reminder to order a new floor jack (my useless - almost from new...

    BLUE DEVIL INPUT

I remember that GM branded Barrs Leaks fiasco. The reason was so they didn't have to bother with minor leaks under warranty, so recommended adding it, almost as a service item. At least 15 years ago it was realised it was all a terrible mistake, so the advice was quietly dropped. Read any GM...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Yesterday I finally got the rear A-frame to mate with diff & get the pinch bolt in. Very grateful for having a rattle-gun, 'cos winding that nut on would've been tedious. Unfortunately I let tinkering with/exploring the Grand Vitara get in the way (after taking the XJ for it's Saturday morning...

    Hey

My requirements were a bit more precise, took about 18 months I seem to recall.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Can't imagine still having mine in another 3 years (not that the Grand Vitara I'm picking up tomorrow is to replace it) - I care too much for my sanity.

    CV axle/Inner axle problems

Lube will help the splines engage, wouldn't recommend antiseize for that application though. If by "cv", you mean the joint, it should be packed with suitable grease.

    OME lift finally installed.

Can't believe how much like a real Jeep it looks without the bumper.

    antifreeze/coolant question

We learned many years ago that "universal" when applied to parts, meant "fits nothing". I suspect the parallel in fluids is "unsuitable for anything". As for long life antifreeze, it's a complete waste of money in anything more than 10 years old as every year you will need to replace some part...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Another abortive attempt to replace the rear A-frame (& I thought remove the old one was a pia): finally got the centre balljoint pin to line up with the camp & at the right angle but can't get it to entre past the groove for the bolt. Last attempt next weekend, which, hopefully, will be a bit...

    Tail Light Issues

Perhaps my memory's failing me - but I didn't think KJ's (like WJ's) had separate sockets. Which is not to say that, with a little surgery, they couldn't be made to fit. In which case, it'd be quite a good conversion.

"Regular maintenance items like oil & changing spark plugs is an easy task." except on a KJ (3.7)! The only thing I've had to resort to the manual to locate the oil filter - &, even then, if it hadn't been white, I'm still not sure I'd have found it. Access is so bad, it's easier with the front...

    Tail Light Issues

I doubt they're halogen, all the ones I've seen have been regular incandescent bulbs. I'm not even sure you can get twin filament halogen bulbs. The problem is not, despite appearances, heat but the design of the sockets &, in particular, their contacts. The problem is so bad on WJ's, which are...

There's a separate fuse for that one tail light (+ the licence plate light)?

    hood vents

Proper factory vents have drip trays, so a scratch round a junk yard might pay dividends. Jacking up the trailing edge of the hood is popular in XJ circles (or was), in fact, you can still get a kit (2 blocks + 4 longer bolts) but, unlike in a rear-engined application, the hot (& contaminated)...

    BLUE DEVIL INPUT

The "proper" way to use any product, is according to the maker's instructions. If you want to give it another go, thoroughly flush the system then apply the correct amount amount strictly in accordance with the directions on the bottle. Good luck!

Not the best intro. to wrenching but you just have to persevere (or buy an older model - if you can afford one)
