    Misfire woes

Firstly, thank you all for the replies. To answer some questions, To clarify, I could feel the engine missing a minute or 2 after start up yesterday. I scanned it and got a misfire code for #4. I went to #4 COP and tested for presence of secondary waveform with my scope with engine running and...

    Misfire woes

'06 Liberty 3,7. Misfire on cyl 4. Scoped for secondary waveform on its COP and got no signal (tested adjacent COPs and got a good pattern). Swapped #4 COP with one of those that tested good and, again, no secondary waveform. I then disconnected COP primary plug (which is 2 pin) and probed the...

Can't adjust my side view mirrors all of a sudden

Weird. I have an '06, too, and had the same thing happen where at first it worked intermittently then later quit altogether.

Can't adjust my side view mirrors all of a sudden

Unplug the switch on the door and test for power with key on. If you have power, there's probably a problem with the switch. On mine, I found a surface mount fuse on the switch's PCB that had blown.

    Engine swap

'07s are the only KJs in the U.S. that used ETC, unless you have an oddball. You probably want to swap over the PCM, BCM and, as mentioned, SKIM, otherwise some programming will probably required. Testing for presence (or lack of) spark/fuel/compression could help narrow down what's up.

2002 Jeep Cherokee KJ 3.7L V6 Petrol Spluttering, sounding like a diesel!

A rocker arm could have popped off. Remove the valve cover on that side and have a look-see. If nothing looks amiss, a leak-down test might prove useful.

2005 Liberty Sport Parasitic Draw Issue

Was your 90mA draw reading taken after allowing time for the modules shut down? If so, you may want to take individual current readings on each of the 3 circuits you mentioned to see which is contributing the most to that value and then go from there. You can also take a voltage reading on the...

    Burning Through Ignition Coils

Just thought I'd chime in here, South Main Auto on their youtube channel had a problem with a melted ignition coil on a Liberty and the problem turned out to be a wigged out cam sensor, which was sending erroneous signals to the PCM. This caused the PCM to trigger the coil to such an extent it...

First (for me) Oil Change ....

I'm not sure if all oil filters made for the 3.7 are the same size, therefore the socket size I use may not fit the filter you buy. That said, I've found a "Hyper Tough" Walmart brand socket fits the oil filter I use perfectly, but with one major caveat: The poor design doesn't allow enough...

First (for me) Oil Change ....

It's just a big, tinny socket that goes on the end of the filter, so you can loosen (or tighten) it. A 3/8" or 1/2" ratchet (or in the Lib's case, a ratchet plus a boat-load of extensions) plugs into the square punch-out you see in the pic on my previous response, allowing you to do the turning...

05 Liberty P0430 and No Bus

Just some generic advice, but generally the 1st step when there's no comm is to check for power and ground on the modules. You may want to check to see if there are any fuses blown.

First (for me) Oil Change ....

Getting the correct size one of these oil filter caps can make oil changes on the Lib a heck of a lot easier. God knows what that correct size (and flute count) is, though. Been trying to figure that out for some time.

    Going neutral while driving

I had an issue with my kj where I lost power and the car would buck. Initially it felt like I was having a transmission issue, but turned out to be caused by bad oxygen sensors causing fuel trims on both banks to go haywire. If the problem only happens after warm-up, it makes me suspect it's...

    Oil flow to valve adjusters.

A set of 12 costs about $34 (in the U.S., anyway). Unless you're really strapped for cash, it'd be easier to just replace them all than to spend time trying to figure out which ones are bad.

    Going neutral while driving

Was the CEL blinking when it came on originally? Have you tried driving it since you had it towed back? You may want to check the fuel trims on your scanner, if you can get the problem to repeat itself. Also note if the problem starts once the car warms up or if it begins right from cold...

    Engine Coolant Questions

What I described earlier is kind of a flush-as-you-go idea and is what I've found to be the easiest and most complete way to do it. It typically takes a number of days to do,, however, so it shouldn't be done if you expect temps to dip below freezing. You could speed up the process by doing a...
