Low compression could implicate the piston rings, right? But if compression isn’t low, and it isn’t leaking externally, could it be worn valve guides that let oil seep into the cylinders when the valves open? I know these can be replaced by the DIY-er with an air compressor and the right tools...
I’ll start with the disclaimer that I’m a biologist, not a farmer, so apologies in advance. I think there is a winter wheat that can be planted as a cover crop to reduce erosion and loss of topsoil to the wind during the off-season. To rejuvenate the field it can be left fallow for a couple of...
I think OME springs and shocks are a great idea. The ball joints are probably going to go bad before the control arm bushings. Have a look for torn rubber boots on the ball joints or cracks/torn bushings. Pretty sure the KJ Liberty doesn’t have a track bar, but it does have a “boomerang” upper...
They are not needed, at least with my KK. My extended rubber bump stops from above miss the grease zerk on the JBA UCA ball joints. I hit a huge pot hole at speed last winter and bottomed the front out. No issues.
The left hand opening with the green is your radiator cap opening and the reservoir with the orange is the coolant reservoir for the radiator. The previous owner combined coolant types which is terrible and will lead to major clogging if the cooling passages and heater core if not flushed asap...
Depending on what it is, I’ll install junkyard Mopar parts instead of cheap new aftermarket parts. The Mopar parts usually work and they will last a lot longer in my experience. There are certain things it doesn’t make sense to get replacements at the junkyard but often that is almost as good as...
I went through the process to update the firmware here:
https://www.eproductcare.com/platformBrand/3/product/1793920089142095874
You'll have to upload a photo of the head unit's "About Device" page in the settings.
My unit is already running the most recent firmware.
Not without some modification, I would think. The KK is longer behind the rear wheels than the KJ and every aftermarket or homemade KK rear bumper I’ve seen wraps around to the rear wheel arches.
Hmmm. It is unseasonably warm here in Philly (80’s in November!?) so I can’t confirm if mine does that in the cold yet. But if it does I’ll come back and post it here.
I think there is a reset button on the lower left of the faceplate that you can push with a paperclip. Haven’t tried that yet.
Another thing I have not gotten around to is registering my unit with ATOTO and updating the firmware version if it is not the latest one. Have you done this yet?
I have the CRUX SOOCR-26 interface, so I think we can rule the interface out since it does it with both.
It’s interesting that the iPhone connects via both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It seems like the Wi-Fi is not disconnected but the Bluetooth is when this happens. But I am not completely sure of this.
Same model as me. The unit lost contact with my phone 3x in 20 minutes today, then automatically got the connection back each time. I don’t know if it is my phone (which is an iPhone 12 and kind of old) or the radio.
When installing the new thermostat, make sure it is clocked correctly. The hole and rubber tab have to be in the right orientation, or I’ve heard that the thermostat housing can leak there. Never had this happen to me though. When my coolant leaked it was always the water pump going bad (2x) or...
I just installed an ATOTO F7 in my Jeep Commander about 2 weeks ago. It has crashed and rebooted a couple of times, but doesn’t seem to do it all that often. Or at least not often enough to bother me. How often do you have trouble with yours?
I went with the F7 rather than the S8 because it’s...
Looks really good, even with old springs and lift. Is it a Columbia Edition? A friend of mine had one and it didn’t have the roof rack but had the same wheels.
From what I can tell the second generation Compass is better than the first. I had a second generation one as a rental vehicle before. It is zippy and fun, and had newer technology in it. The older Compass shares a platform with the Jeep Patriot and Dodge Caliber, which were ok but did not get...
