Question about 4.7L V8 in the WJ/WK/XK — need advice

Thank you all for the info about the 4.7 and the Commander. It was too good a deal to pass up and is in really nice condition. I have actually owned it since Saturday afternoon (before I read most of your replies) and put a few hundred miles on it since. It is a really nice truck. I can see why...

Question about 4.7L V8 in the WJ/WK/XK — need advice

Hi KJ & KK peeps, Don’t worry, I am not selling or engine swapping my Liberty! :p Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I would like to ask some advice from people here on the forum who own anything with the 4.7L V8. I am looking at adding a second vehicle to the stable, and the 05-10 WK...

    DIY LiFePO4 Battery for Jeepy

Thanks! I got the inverter and solar controller wired to the battery today. Yay! They work! Excited to be able to put this battery to use with my camping fridge. What do you use yours for?

    2012 No Crank No Start

Sounds like your starter is receiving no power when you turn the key, since it will turn when current is applied manually. Do you have a multimeter to check for voltage at the relay? The relay would be the next thing to try and rule out. It is not impossible that the new one the mechanic put in...

    2012 No Crank No Start

The starter is not on your list of replaced parts. Can you see if you can jump the starter relay and get some starter engagement? (Just for a second — it will not run the car but should rule out a bad starter. My other thought has to do with if it sat a long time, if mice have chewed through...

    DIY LiFePO4 Battery for Jeepy

Today I had a few hours to work on the battery project and begin to install it in the Jeep. Job one was to install a vehicle-spec fire extinguisher bracket, since there is an increased risk of fire with an extra electrical system. I made a base plate out of aluminum that bolts underneath the...

2012 Jeep Liberty w/ Very Little HVAC Heat

I needed to replace the air distribution box at one point for broken plastic gears on the mode door. This thread will give you an idea of where the actuators are and what they look like. Also a dash disassemble is in there in case the air distribution box or heater core needs to be replaced...

2012 Jeep Liberty w/ Very Little HVAC Heat

Next I would check the blend door is operating right. In the drivers footwell, inboard side, you’ll see two actuator motors on the side of the air distribution box. (You might have to remove the cardboard kick cover first.) One actuator is the mode door that does the position (face, feet...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Oh no! Please let us know what happened. Hope the rig is fixable. Those skid plates may have saved some key bits from destruction.

Wife's '12 KK fan selector stuck on defrost

Good job extracting the air box today from behind the dash. That’s not a job for the feint of heart.

Wife's '12 KK fan selector stuck on defrost

YES! It would suck to have to get a junkyard box out of a wrecked KK! Double the work.

Wife's '12 KK fan selector stuck on defrost

I wonder if spraying the plastic gears with lithium grease once a year would make any difference. But yeah, I think Reni is right that it’s a little of both. The hot/cold cycling is probably wearing out the plastic and makes it brittle.

Nice! Glad you got the ABS gremlins figured out. Post a pic or two of the KK as it sits now. I would love to see those wheels.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Every once in a while my workshop reaches a stage where the level of chaos crosses an invisible line, and the space must be tidied before anything else can happen! I try to keep it reasonable and put tools back where they go on a regular basis, but the tornado of cleaning has to happen...

    DIY LiFePO4 Battery for Jeepy

I think I am coming out pretty well on cost. Something like an Ecoflow or a Jackery can be pricey. For size comparison, my battery has about 1000 watt hours (a tad less; 74 amp hours x 13.2 volts nominal = 976.8 watt hours). The four 74 Ah battery cells and the 100 Amp BMS came from Battery...
