It is normal. Its like starting a stick in 2nd or 3rd gear. Just make damn sure your transmission is in gear before you give it gas. If you are revved up and shift into R then you will eliminate that gear. Trust me...

Almost all Jeeps have that tight radius. Its part of the Trail Rated requirements. I love turning around on a 2 lane road without using reverse.

It is a low pitch or high pitch? Does the engine temp affect it in anyway? Any other symptoms: lower mileage, less power, rotten egg smell?
