you can get a loaner vacuum pump from your LAPS as well to do a leak test.
Pull a vacuum in your system through a manifold and see if the vacuum holds.
get UV dye in it to find the leak or a sniffer tool.
It could be the two flex hoses going in and out of the compressor.
There was a very tiny hole in mine when i last worked on my AC system (the AC shop I went to found it) on the low pressure side going from the evap to the compressor...
What year is your KJ?
copy and pasted the info from the 2008 FSM for you.
OPERATION The electric radiator cooling fan is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) through the radiator cooling fan relays. The PCM regulates fan operation based on input from the engine coolant...
i only buy consumables like filters and non-mechanical parts from RA.
warranty is a hassle w/ them.
Glued the rear view mirror button.
Noticed my read window pad is starting to come off.
P/S high pressure line has some atf on it. hm......
Yes, the e-rad fan will engage when the air conditioning system is activated but it will then deenergize when air conditioning is selected and coolant temperature is below 92° C (198° F), or air conditioning is selected and battery temperature is below 38° C (100° F).

my info is from FSM. The KJ FSM is freely accessible and anyone can get to the FSM themselves and read the info.
Do note that I am only mostly familiar w/ the 02 and 03.
I used RTV on mine on the outside edge of the gasket groove and a light coat of rtv on the gasket.
Mostly because I had some corrosion issue on the block that resulted in some small holes on the mating surface.
The small holes were patched.
i had a really slow leak with my power steering pump assembly and was keeping the valve covered with the faintest ATF-4.
Was probably a seal that went bad. replaced it with a part from autozone and no more wet valve cover.
I drilled out the rivet that holds the horizontal support to the vertical support and replaced it with nut and bolt.
I think there's another method as well that someone else would chime in.
once separated, the horizontal piece is held in by two bolts on either side.
If you haven't had it...
