    Gas mileage

I get around 17 MPG (highway @65-70 mph) with 31x10.5-15 tires and regeared to 4.10s. Having a high cut front bumper isn't doing the aerodynamics any favors...

    KJ 8.25in differential questions

Tom, as far as I can tell, the ring and pinion for a Dana 30A are different from a standard Dana 30. However, the differential case/carrier are the same between the two. There is not a Liberty specific Detroit Truetrac, for the Dana 30A, as an example.

    Strut compression - Best Practices

I bought a spring compressor like this: eBay Hydraulic Spring Compressor Overall, I really like it and have assembled/disassembled my front coilovers a few times. But as others have said you need to use caution around these devices that store this much energy. I do all the assembly/disassembly...

    Brake bleeding

I use a Motive Power Bleeder, similar to the Sealy VS820 recommended earlier. It is super easy to use with one person. https://www.motiveproducts.com/collections/domestic-bleeder-kits/products/chrysler-dodge-mopar-bleeder

    Front Timing Cover Leak

I have done the power steering and transmission hoses already, so it just leaves this left to fix. Based on the service manual, it shouldn't be too hard. I just may need some threaded rod, washers, and a nut to press the harmonic balancer back on. Thanks for all your input guys.

    TrakMotive XTENDED Travel CV Axles

They seem nice enough to try. On some cheaper replacement CVs, it seems like to boots get cracked and torn pretty quickly. These list a "tough" thermo plastic boot that should be good. I would try these if/when my current CVs wear out or the boots tear.

    Front Timing Cover Leak

Just wondering if others have leaks up by their front timing cover area. It seems like the whole front area is covered up as high as the power steering pump, and it runs down the front of the engine. I have tried cleaning the area with the pressure, but with the lance being as long as it is, it...

    trans cooler lines

I did a "hose" replacement similar to Duster described. I removed the air box, serpentine belt tensioner, radiator fan, and front sway bar to get the most room for the Dremel tool to cut the crimped hose connectors. I didn't have much trouble cutting the crimped ends off the old hose. I did cut...

    Detroit Lockers with Selectrac

In my CRD Liberty (Only available with Selectrac) I ran a DTT upfront. I had no issues with it. In 2wd you will not notice it is there. For the rear it really depends on what you want to do with your Jeep. I have DTT front and rear and really like them. They are passive, and engage when you...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I replaced all the old cracking conduit on the engine harness. The old stuff was literally crumbling in my hands when I was taking it off. I did the branch of the harness on top the engine behind the AC compressor, and the branch down the passenger side of the engine that leads to the cam and...

    Iron Rock Rear A-arm

I have the rubber bushing'd version of it and I am very happy with it. The bushings cups are welded on at a slight angle so that ride height there is very little flex for the bushings, when compared to the stock upper rear control arm. The adjustability is nice to get the output of the transfer...

    Spartan helical diff

Any 27 spline LSD/Locker should fit. I counted splines on a spare driver's side CV I have in my garage, and it is 27 spline. You should contact your local offroad or driveline shop for verification.

Disconnect front sway bar links off road?

Given that JK Sway disconnects fit, I would be curious if these (link below) could be used on a Liberty. I would imagine you would have to cut out some of the inner fender to provide clearance to the upper portion of the disconnect. Apex AutoLYNX It would be super convenient to just give it a...

Disconnect front sway bar links off road?

I did install JKS quick disconnects for a JK, but the pins that stay on the vehicle interfere with the steering knuckle at full lock. So I reverted back to the stock sway links. I remove the stock links when going off road on tougher trails. It only takes 5-10 min to do on flat ground before and...
