Yep, that ^^^^^ I towed a UHaul 6X12 dual axle from Northern Ohio to Nashville and back a few years ago. At the time the KJ had the full OME/Bilstein lift so it was near 4" over stock at the time and I used my standard 2 inch drop receiver. I installed a Spartan locker today.
When installing a lunchbox in the rear, grab a cross pin bolt before you get started. When I put in the PowerTrax the head of the cross pin sheared right off when I was taking out the original spider gears and I didn't have another pin. I had a PowerTrax in my '03 and the bloody thing would go anywhere. There are circumstances where you really need to be careful - like on a snow covered street or parking lot - but once I got used to mine I didn't really notice it anymore. 2002 3.7l engine parts compatability
Short answer - no, the '02 won't swap into an '04 directly without changing the cam sprocket and reluctor ring from the blown '04 into the '02 from your brother. Read through the Engine Swap Overview to get an idea of how this works - except in reverse in your case. Bob- TwoBobsKJ

3.7 oil pan removal
^^Both of these^^ The oil pan can be removed from the engine but can't really be taken out from under the engine without also removing the oil pickup - which Conundrum stated. But the oil pickup is hidden behind the windage tray/gasket. A REAL pain, so... Your best bet is to take the engine...- TwoBobsKJ

Engine Rebuild Advice or Suggestions?
^^^Great advice right there ;) Also get a new set of head bolts as they are designed to stretch at the shoulder - reusing them puts you in danger of a bolt breaking when torquing it down. The engine R&R on the Liberty is a pretty straightforward proposition - if the body is in good shape...- TwoBobsKJ

Timing question
That is correct. You'll need to hold the cam in position to take the chain off. Other option is to remove the cam sprocket and let the cam turn, replace the chain on the sprocket, then rotate the cam back to position. Not sure how difficult that would be since you'll be compressing some of...- TwoBobsKJ

"might" be selling probably the lowest mileage 2002 Liberty in the country.
If you're going with coilovers might I suggest the JBA system? I ran those with the ARB and it was a sweeeeet ride - amazingly smooth and controlled with the ability to adjust the front up or down depending on my mood. And you'd pay a bit less than $1500 - of course I did buy a set of JBA UCA's...- TwoBobsKJ

Dang Smitty, hate to see your KJ go - you have a very nice build and have obviously taken good care of her.
