Nope, you need to change the reluctor ring and cam sprocket. Everything about the computer is different so there's nothing to flash to make it compatible.
Sorry :blah:
Bob
Jim, on the front you could lift the shock out of the clevis a 1/4 inch and that would give you half inch of lift over what you have now. The rear is probably fine where it is - not much more you can do there since you already put 2 upper isolators on top of the springs.
I wouldn't worry...
I tried that exact tool and it didn't work. There's nothing for the jaws to grab on to in the back - or at least the jaws were too thick to get into the small beveled area on the bearing. Took my crank to a machine shop and they had it out it 10 minutes and also removed the small screws that...
Just posted an answer to your question over in the How-To section.
Over there you didn't ask about the nose of the torque converter, but you'll have to do a test fit. Sometimes the bearing in the end of the crank needs to be pulled - has to be done by a machine shop. But if your TC fits then...
You are correct.
When you rebuild the '03 are you having a shop do it or are you doing it yourself? If a shop does it request that that build it to '07 specs so you get the improved compression, oil flow and so they fix the valve seat issue (they had a tendency to drop in the '02 thru '04...
Looks great Jim - really happy for you! :waytogo:
Reminds me of HoosierJeeper's KJ - he has the Limited also and it handles great and does great off road. I was there and saw it myself, right HJ? ;)
A thought on rails... AllJ's Products is in Northern California and they make a nice set of...
There are two different issues being discussed here...
Lori, your original question was about flat towing your Liberty. Flat towing is when you tow your Liberty behind an RV or other vehicle. There are specific steps to take to properly tow behind an RV - and your KK is almost certainly set up...
That's exactly what happened to me. A DEALER in Memphis used a NAPA sensor cuz they were out of stock on crank sensors; they said it carried the same dealer warranty as a Mopar unit. What good does that do me when I live in OHIO...?
Anyway, I replaced the NAPA part with a Mopar. Here's what...
Worst snow storm I was ever in was at Ohio Rt. 7 and I-90. Literally couldn't see the end of the hood on the KJ.
Was never worried about getting stuck but plenty worried about getting hit by someone else or plowing into another car, or mailbox - or front porch.
That lake effect is amazing...

The timing tensioners are actually not that difficult to replace. The hours a shop may charge may be somewhat high because the timing cover on the front of the engine needs to be removed to get to them.
The valve covers are not difficult either; components need to be removed or...
Yes, the issue you're dealing with will be the opposite of the details in the engine swap thread. Basically you need to take the cam sprocket and crankshaft reluctor ring from your 2006 engine and put them in the 2002 engine. The computers are different between the model years you're dealing...

That sounds like a really nice find - low miles on a diesel like that makes in practically new ;)
The CRD's are a little different when it comes to lifts since the front diff is shifted to the left/driver's side to accommodate the diesel - so you can't lift as high as a gas KJ...
That's a good price for sure.
Be sure to check the tags on it when you get the diff to make sure it's from a 2.4 and has the 4.10's. I drove about 90 minutes to pick up a front diff from a salvage yard and on the phone the guy swore it was from a 4 cylinder KJ. Got there, took one look at the...
That's sweet!
Just to be sure - not that you have any reason to not trust what the guy told you - change the diff oil in the front and rear diffs and take a look at the rear diff to confirm the TruTrac is installed. Could be the guy 'mis-spoke' and you have a lunchbox locker or even just a...
A lift doesn't make any difference with the CV's on the driveshaft from the transfer case to the front diff. The front diff is in a fixed position so the prop shaft position never changes.
The CV's on the front axle can have issues with extreme lifts since their angles change with a lift. But...
Mine is still like that and I've never bothered to adjust it. I've thought about taking out one of the upper isolators in the rear since that's so much easier than doing anything in front. Plus I won't have to get an alignment.
But the back-to-front rake is kinda catchy. Looks a little bit...
