But I really have no plans to get that deep into trouble off road. I'm a wannabe photographer, not a rock crawling, mud bogging, dune blaster. Let alone the extreme cost of lockers. Will the slightly taller, somewhat heavier wheels and tires I'm putting on be too much strain on the Al Dana...
The rest of my rims have arrived, so have all the TPMSes. Today I ordered the rest of the tires and some hub centric rings (I don't know how ell they work, but they were cheap). The wheel well modifications will be done next Tuesday, so I should be driving around on new meat even before the last...
I know, right? There's WAY too many smilies, a number of them duplicates (there's 2 idea smilies). It's crazy trying to find the one you want because they aren't set up to show when you type common acronyms or trigger words. But hey, one problem at a time.
Some members will post links in their messages so that others can find relevant information, an interesting site, another topic or post on JeepKJ or to a product or part. Unfortunately, these links aren't always visible because the default behavior for links here is to look exactly like regular...
I make more mistakes than you can shake a stick at. But I try hard not to make the people who point them out to me look like shit. But I learned a long time ago that posts and threads live long past the time they were first posted and the people who read them don't always know who or what came...
You've done this before and it still baffles me. When you post that info with those pictures, it would be helpful if you tell us WHICH KJ is John's and which is yours. Saying the one on the left or right doesn't help when both Jeeps are switched between photos. Just saying "John's 03" or your 04...
But that 3/4" is divided between both sides, so that leaves about 3/8", which is what I measured (forgive me for not being adept enough to hold the tape and camera at the same time).
That article was really difficult to read - very poor writing skills - but it echos many of the reviews I...
The wheel well modifications have been performed on the passenger side. I did the one side only to do a fitment test for the wheel/tire combo I like. There was a chance I was going to have to reselect different wheels or different tires. I am now convinced I will have to do neither. There...
Wish I had seen that information sooner. It would have changed the look of my list of possible tires.
Noise levels are not that big an issue to me. Ninty percent of the time, I am the only one in the Jeep. I don't usually listen to radio or music and I never use the phone while driving...
Thanks for that. I don't recall reading anything that specific in all my research here. I might not have even considered the STTs because they don't come in a 265/70R16.
Here are the tire specifics:
Tread Depth: 18/32"
Load Range: E (10 ply rated, but only 3 ply construction)
Load Index...
There's one or two I am considering, but they won't fit in the budget for a while yet.
Yeah, I know. Must. Improve. Tolerance. I'm workin' on it. ;)
Already have the top plate, so maybe a clevis spacer, if necessary. I prob'ly shouldn't worry that leveling will be a disadvantage if I ever...
Practical? You mean like I might be if I thought about life the way I did 10 years ago before I found out I had two, maybe three years left? I've mentioned this reasoning before and I understand you can't possibly remember what people have said from one day to the next. There are many thousands...
Well, I hope when people look at my rims, they will think I have good taste. But there was a time that might have been questionable.
The wheels I chose for my KJ are not wheels I will worry about getting muddy or even dinged up a bit. But they do look pretty cool to me.
I haven't seen anyone using the rims I chose, so for now, I'm keepin' them a secret. They're 16x8s and have a 4.5" BS. I couldn't find anything I liked with a 5" backspace and I definitely don't want my KJ to look like half the other KJs I see.
I'll reveal them soon though - hopefully real...
