Was just watching some YouTube videos from people who almost had me convinced a small (7"+) phablet/tablet might be just the ticket, even if it was dedicated to GPS duty. But I forgot the cell coverage thing. I also have limited coverage where I live, even on the highway. The other day, when I...
I'm thinkin' it would be much safer for me if I had a GPS navigation device. I have a smartphone, but the screen just isn't large enough. I think a screen at least 7" (diagonally) would be best. And it should have detailed maps of trails, as well as regular roads, at least in my neck of the...
I started out just looking for landscape photos. I thought all the rain we've been geting had washed away the snow, even at the higher elevations. Nope. I got into some pretty deep ruts, filled with snow on top of mud - or vis versa. It was fun, even exhilarating. Didn't find any good photo...
Maybe it's just me, but the thought runs through my mind, "ever'body's got Moabs." Find something unique. Save a little here, a little there and before you know it, you got enough to get something most Jeepers don't have.
Ya know how, when you buy new tennis shoes, you gotta scuff them up an' get them a little dirty before you can be seen in public? Well...
That was just the beginning of the ride. We have had a tremendous, just really tremendous amount of rain and before that, snow recently. There was a lot of...
Heating the pinch weld itself wouldn't help much, unless you used a torch and extreme heat. It actually bends pretty easy with some well placed hits from a 3-5# sledge hammer.
The plastic liner can be softened with a heat gun so you can cut and fold back a section that covers the pinch weld...
I drove my KJ to Reno today and came back lookin' like this:
Not only do these new wheels & tires look cool, they are so much more off-road capable than my old tires it ain't funny. And on-road is pretty damn good too - also better than the old (god, I hated that howling sound).
Thanks man, I appreciate that. Gee, I wonder if I get a commission for all these new members. :icon_razz:
Thanks again. But you should keep that color choice under yer hat. Some here - I won't name names tommudd - think silver is the ugliest, awfullest, dullest color for a Jeep. My last ride...
Yep, real happy.
No, those are faux beadlocks, but they are the best fake ones I've seen. The company actually makes a beadlock version of the same wheel and it's very hard to tell the difference - unless you look at the invoice.
That's great! Welcome. There's no better KJ oriented forum around. I should be good on brownie points for a week or two now. :D
It was a harrowing ride to Reno today. More rain in my neck of the woods than we've seen in many years. Lots of floods, property damage and several mud slides and...
Well, with the knobby tires like the Discoverer STT Pro, letting it "rub for a bit" could end up sounding a lot like those playing cards I stuck in my bicycle spokes when I was a kid. ;)
No call from them today. :( Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Thank you. This is great information. I already cut some of that out. It may not be dirty enough to show much under there. We've had a LOT of rain lately and more to come and 99.9% of the miles I will get after the tires are mounted is pavement or concrete. So, it's good to know where to look...
A gentle reminder - the pictures will help. I'm hoping to hear from Discount Tires today or tomorrow to tell me they are ready to get me on my new rims & tires. If any additional trimming of the wheel well liner needs to be done, I'd like to know where that would be.
Thanks.
Well, I was mistaken when I said all the rims had arrived. I forgot I only had 4, so I ordered the last one shortly after that post. Almost a week later (today), I called Summit because I still hadn't gotten a shipping confirmation. Summit and most other dealers have these rims shipped directly...
Is there supposed to be a period or three in there someplace? I have enough trouble reading - maybe getting dyslexic in my old age. Maybe it's your smartphone, but not smart enough to include a period on the keyboard.
You've prob'ly answered this before, but where'd you get that? I wonder if it comes large enough to strap in a couple oxygen tanks (they're about 4⅜" diameter)?
