    2004 jeep liberty sport 4wd

As long as you fit the full set it won't damage anything if you just need it to run round in until you get the proper tyres sorted.

It would look silly and mess up the gearing, any reason why?

Can you mount factory skid plates on a Liberty that didn't come with them?

Stainless will eat carbon steel if you live anywhere where the roads get salted

    Turbo rebuilders?

An upgraded turbo is useless on an ECU controlled diesel without an upgraded ECU map to go with it, the standard turbo is allegedly good for 200hp & 340 ft/lb but the torque converter won't live long so budget for that too if you are chasing power.

Not had an issue with springs, the bearings go but VW use the same pully so don't pay silly money for a special Jeep one. The one in the picture above is my spare, awaiting a new pully or a fresh bearing if it comes apart easily, it's done 130,000 miles but the spring still feels OK. Is yours...

Grey smoke - lots of it!

Checking the plugs is simple but a pain in the rear... access is difficult, I have a selection of long nose pliers I used on mine, just pull the plug cap off and put a multi meter access it set to measure resistance, you can attach the negative lead to battery negative so you only have one...

Never buy a Tristar Tri-star engine

That's terrible, sounds like bad machining in the seat pocket. Fingers crossed for the other head.

The sills rot out, pull the plastic covers off and soak them inside and out with waxoil or similar, let it dry for a while before clipping the plastic back. I need to put new inner and outer sills on mine soon, they are patchwork!

Grey smoke - lots of it!

You can check them with a multi meter, if they are showing continuity they are OK. What year is your Jeep? The later ones had the ceramic plugs, the earlier non VNT turbos were 12V steel plugs.

I'm not a huge fan of instant fix stuff you tip into engines, in my experience they create more trouble down the road.... However I'm glad yours is working for you.

What did you do to your jeep today?

My daughter wants a mint green one for her first car. I knew a guy with an Arbarth, it was a flying machine.

    545RFE removal 2.8 CRD

The upper starter bolt really needs a ratchet ring spanner, with one it's a 10 minute job. I haven't had to pull the gearbox on mine thankfully so I can't offer any advice, however the manuals will show you what's involved, have you downloaded them? https://www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/

Which one is stripped? Engine or pulley?? They are both originally M10 conventional right hand thread. Be careful with the 2 idler pulleys they left hand thread.
