    Help with 4X4 Disengagement Clunk

    The transmission shop told me that it seemed to him like the transfer case was not fully disengaging 4WD. I also have a whine towards the front of the Jeep. Anyone have any thoughts or input? Does this seem possible? I am thinking of swapping out the transfer case with a used one.

    Thanks. I did use ATF+4. I actually changed the fluid because of the rough disengagement. It is really a hard clunk/shudder not just a little one. I am taking it to a local shop later this week. He said he can inspect the externals, but doesn't rebuild the internals he replaces with a rebuilt...
