    how to drain fuel

At least on the KK there are places where you can disconnect the fuel line and not have to cut it. I like the idea of having your fuel pump do the work. Unless the reason it died was a dead fuel pump. :p

    4.10 gear finally Installed

That’s awesome. Nice work. It sounds like a great idea to have a spare front differential, regear it on the bench, and then swap it in when you have time. Those go for about $100 at the LKQ in my area. So not bad for some extra flexibility.

    AC Repair Advice

I’ve got no AC in my 2008 with 229,000 miles. The compressor was replaced a couple of years ago. Other than that it has been trouble free. At some point last fall or this winter I heard a hissing sound from behind the glove box accompanied by a dripping sound. The AC hasn’t worked since. I...

    4.10 gear finally Installed

Did you do the regearing yourself? How much of a process was it? Were the new ring and pinion set up on the first try, third try, or eighth try? :p I’ve been wanting to do this for years. I have never had the cash to pay for it, but am wary of messing it up if I were to do it myself.

3.7 engine swap into a Jeep Patriot

The Patriot is a transverse front wheel drive setup, whereas the Liberty is traditional rear wheel drive. Those are pretty different.

Right rear shock making a strange noise

Check the torque on the sway bar links as well. Maybe the shop disconnected them while installing the shocks?

Turn signal is staying on/ isn’t flashing

When I had random and then persistent issues with my Jeep’s signals, it was the multifunction switch (the stalk on the left side of the steering wheel) that was worn out. A new one from a junkyard Liberty solved the problem. They are easy to swap out.

Anyone know good trails in Michigan?

I hear the Manistee National Forest has some great forest roads for Jeeping. I don’t know if it’s still up and running but Bundy Hill offroad park is there for some technical crawling. Not sure what part of the state you’re in.

    Broken sway bar link bolt

It’s got a 4” JBA adjust a strut lift kit from back in the day. The actual height is probably nearer to 3.5” by now.

    Broken sway bar link bolt

Today the sway bar assembly came together! I am still waiting for a new Mopar sway bar to be delivered, so I installed the rusty one along with its trashed bushings just so I can drive it in the meantime. The Tereflex extended sway bar links for lifted JK’s are a fantastic fit. The new...

    Broken sway bar link bolt

Reporting in… I broke it again!!! Here are the two nuts I was using as jam nuts. Well that didn’t work. Well it worked a little. I did get the stud to turn maybe 1/8 of an inch before this happened. The induction heater was great. Every time the bolt would start to seize up again I would...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Oil change today, and topped off the radiator coolant. Mileage is 228166. I needed a break from that broken bolt in the frame that has been driving me crazy! o_O

    Broken sway bar link bolt

Just ordered a magnetic induction heater! It arrived this afternoon and I’ll try it out tomorrow. This I think is maybe the best option near the fuel filler hose, directed flameless heat! Kind of pricey but I see all sorts of future use for this thing. I not only have the 08 Liberty but also an...

Welding a nut on will be my plan B if heat doesn’t work. But hoping it will!

    Broken sway bar link bolt

Yeah I have been looking at getting a Bernzomatic torch with an adjustable flame and Mapp gas, but it seems like it might be a little too unpredictable for this particular situation. It is probably not a bad idea to have one at some point though. I like the little butane torch idea for this.

    Broken sway bar link bolt

Oh that’s interesting. Looks much easier to control. Can I get an 18 mm grade 8 bolt nice and red hot with that?

    Broken sway bar link bolt

Luke, do you have a link you can share that shows the kind of butane torch you mean?
