Thanks for the explanation. I think the EGR must have just been stuck open and flooded the engine with exhaust gas. This evening I replaced the two gaskets on the EGR tube, sprayed some Carb cleaner down the EGR, let it soak, and actuated it some more with wires directly to the battery. Then I...
BIG UPDATE! First thing I did this morning was go out and remove the EGR pipe going from the EGR valve to the intake tube. Then I tried to remove the EGR valve itself. One mounting bolt (T45) was stuck and started to strip. The second bolt started moving, then broke in half down inside the...
Yes, and I think it is also odd that I'm getting rich codes on both banks. What are the odds that two O2 sensors go bad at the same time. I'm thinking it must be something higher up that can affect the whole engine at once. I think I'll start today looking at the EGR valve. Maybe it's stuck open...
Thanks, I'll try grounding to the block tomorrow. So do the O2 sensors have the heater built in? I felt around this afternoon and did not feel anything look in their wiring, but will inspect closer tomorrow. I'll lift up the front end so I can get a better look.
Thank you very much for the ideas. I connected the negatives of a jumper cable to the battery negative, and one of the mounting ears of the alternator. Did not make a difference.
Started the engine and let it run a while for while by itself (no throttle input) and it finally produced codes...
Right, so the air filter isn't clogged, so air is getting in. I checked around for vacuum leaks, but haven't hooked up a smoke test yet.
I've had coils go bad in the past, and they have always popped misfire codes. And the JScan doesn't show any misfires. So i think the coils are firing. I...
Thanks. Yes I thought about ground straps too, but I'll double check. Battery and Alternator seem good.
It acts just like my string trimmer does when there's a blockage in the carb. I'm wondering if if maybe there's a clogged fuel filter? Is there a fuel filter outside of the tank somewhere...
'09 KK 160,000 miles:
My daughter was on her way home from school yesterday, and stopped at a light. When it changed and she took her foot off the brake, she said the jeep just rolled backward. It wouldn't drive forward. Long story short it got towed home. But she said the engine seemed to run...
Yes, just plug and play. Technically you need the switch and short wire harness (in orange in my picture). Not sure about your 2006 (KJ), but on the 2008+ series (KK), I believe it is throttle-by-wire, so no other hardware is needed. Everything's already there in the computer. There isn't an...
I really wish I had taken a picture of the new wheel before installation. I might try to get a picture up soon. Just hate to take that darn airbag out again!. But yes, it looks exactly the same, just with a stalk hanging out. I did not try to upgrade the wheel to a newer style. I just keep it...
So, in the years I've owned my Liberty it has always REALLY bugged me that it didn't have cruise control. I mean, for Pete's sake, it has the downhill descent control, but not cruise? I've done a lot of searching online and found kits for sale for upwards of $300!, or lists of part numbers for...
I wonder, after you're driving and the heat works, and you park in your driveway, before you turn off the engine, does it still blow hot while you're idling?
Must be a blockage somewhere. Heater core? Radiator? T-Stat? I dunno
Found the problem. The axle nut on the passenger side was maybe a thread loose. I removed it with my 35 mm socket and impact, added some blue loctite and reinstalled. No more clunk!
2009 KK 4x4 150K miles
Weird one...
After driving a little while, when slowing down to a light with normal to light brake pressure, when I'm nearly at a stop I hear and feel a distinctive rotational clunk. If feels like a U joint or axle is flopping around and striking something solid. Hard to...
Just an update on this. I checked my transmission fluid again and it looked low still. Added some more and now the problem has completely disappeared. So I guess it was just low fluid causing the problem.
You might have had an air pocket that finally worked itself out. I'd open up the radiator cap (not overflow) if possible. When it's cool of course. And check. Had a similar situation on my wife's mazda and it turned out to just be low coolant. Hopefully it's just an easy fix for you.
I have a 2009 KK with 170k miles. In the morning I go out and start the car. Reverse out of the driveway, shift into drive and go to the end of my street. It goes through first gear, barely into second, and then I get to my stop sign. I wait, look both ways, and then proceed to turn. But the...
