Well guys, I found something else wrong with my Jeep and I had to take it to the dealer to get it looked at before the warranty runs out. While they have my 05 4WD to fix my leaky windshield they loaned me a khaki 07 Liberty to drive home. To my amazement it looked exactly like my 05 on the inside and out except for the color and missing 4wd shift stick. Also it felt a little different driving, the steering was tighter and it responded quicker to the gas. In my 05 when I hit the gas it takes it a second to get going but in that 07 as soon as I touch the pedal it takes off. Brakes responded a lot quicker than in mine by far. While shifting from park to drive and through the gears it felt a lot smoother than mine and I just got done changing my trans fluid. Between the two libertys there are only 7000 miles difference so it cant be that my transmission is in much worse shape. Maybe I just expected that they will perform the same because they look so much alike. Are they so different in how they drive because one is 4wd and the other is 2wd or are they like that because of 2 year difference or is it that mine is just not doing too good?

All sorts of possible variables. The bowden cables in yours are probably adjusted slightly differently, which would affect the throttle response. There is a similar cable system connecting the shifter to the transmission. these can stretch & get out of adjustment, dirt & corrosion can get into the conduits that the cables run through, making movement less smooth. The brakes may be made of different material, or may be newer... perhaps they recently serviced the brake fluid. Then there is the fact that no two cars are exactly the same.

there are definately differences between each vehicle, my '06 Sport 2wd drives COMPLETELY different than my mother's '05 Limited 2wd. Mine rides better, the steering is more responsive and smooth, and the seats are more comfortable in mine too. A friend of mine had a 4x4 KJ for his rental car a while back, he said it drove COMPLETELY different from mine as well, and got horrible gas mileage too. I think most are about the same, but there are a few that have pretty noticeable differences.

Sounds like they might have tweaked a bunch of things for 2006. Maybe while they were engineering the stability control system they re-engineered some of the associated hardware and software. Someone already mentioned that the throttle went electronic.
