Just hit the 100k mark. Never have taken it to the shop since 2002. Just wondering what to expect at this point. Its just a trail rig now. Anyone else hit this milestone? What do I need to look out for? Its been the most reliable vehicle Ive ever had.

Mine is at 105K. Did you do the 90K mile service listed in the back of the owners manual?

That basically sounds like the 90K service. This is the schedule that I have been running mine off of. If you did not do the complete 90K, I would recommend that, but beyond that, it is entirely up to you and how hard you wheel yours. Mine rarely sees dirt anymore with gas prices, so I have no problem with Jeep's recommendations.

As far as problems, my radiator took a dive in the middle of an intersection at 104K and there have been some people discussing rusted fittings on the brake lines.

I would change the spark plugs for sure!! If they have that many miles on them then they are probably just dust(just kidding).

I would probably change out the belt, hoses, stat, and heater hoses although idk how you would change the heater hoses on a kj. They are all over the place and some are hard to get to.

106,000 still has the original brakes, hoses, belt, battery, etc. I just changed all the fluids on a regular basis and plugs every 30,000 or so thats about it! Just keep the maintenance up and it will be fine. Oh I did have to replace the windshield. Never been inside a dealership in its life

for the belt look at the back side for cracks in it, replace if it is at any point

oh
I am quickly approaching 100k

I have asked this before, but how fickle is this ****** to high mileage fluid changes? I would like to do one more swap, but not sure if i should drop the pan and drain and replace filter, or slowly introduce new fluid?

likewise, what about the transfer case and axles?

At 90k i did plugs, oil, belt, coolant. i need to do brake rotors and pads, as well as the above mentioned fluids, but should I just let them be?

Boy you all are waiting to long to change fluids:eek:!

Don't forget to change the belt tensioner when you change the belt since the spring in the tensioner wears out just like the belt does, the belt needs to be changed every 60,000 miles.

My maintance........
(every)
3000 miles-change oil+filter(with detailed under carriage inspection)
Grease UBJ's and LBJ's

6000 miles-T-case fliud

12,000 miles-F/R diffs

15,000 miles-****** flush/with filter change(every other 15,000 gets the filters,flush every 15,000)
PS flush
PCV valve

30,000-Brake fluid flush
serp belt+tensioner
coolant flush+t-stat+upper/lower radiator hoses+radiator cap
spark plug change

And I run full synthectics also and wash my AEM DryFlow air filter whenever looking dirty.

Yeah, that would be me. I advise at least looking at the condition of your brake lines - my right one went out just over 100K. Scary stuff. Since then I've only had to replace the rear brake shoes. It's a milestone though, and parts will indeed wear out.

Yep I am pushing the envelope by going this long and not changing the belt, but new belt and tensioner is in the back, 5 minutes to change out, sometimes you just have to see how long something will go! I bought brake pads at 75,000 they have mold on them now from sitting around waiting LOL

For the belt tensioner, which should be used: a grooved pulley or smooth one?

The KJ belt tensioner will come with 2 pulley's on it(one is the actual tensioner and the other is just a idler pully),one smooth and one ribbed. It is held on with one 13mm bolt.

In pic below.....
#1-tensioner mount bolt(13mm)
#2-smooth idler pully(mounted to tensioner)
#3-ribbed tensioner pully, this is the actual moving pulley.

How to remove belt in pic below, turn the tensioner pully clockwise(tighten)with a 15mm wrench or socket.

im over 121k now and had that multi point inspection the dealership had for a cheap price. they said everything was good and just needed to change my transfer case fluid and 2 bulbs. i just had the front / back differential fluid changed(not by dealer) and alignment(also not by dealer). also just got a new center console arm rest off ebay. now that i found this site i ll save $60 on the transfer case fluid change as well as everythin else now.

and also just changed the blower motor resistor and that little bulb in shifter
