Hi everyone.

Hoping someone can help as I cant find anything on the issue I am having. My oil pressure light came on and will not go out. I am not a mechanic so I am going by what my mechanic said so I may not be 100% on the details.

He said its not the switch because when he unplugged it and grounded it out the light stayed on. Apparently the battery was near dead and wouldnt start when he went to move it so he was replaced the battery. The battery was out for about an hour and when he put the new one in the light went out. He started the car a few times and then the light eventually came back on. Oil in the car is fine so its not low. He is guessing its some sort of electrical module but doesnt have the diagnostic tools for that. I dont want to take it to a jeep dealer as I know I will get charged a ton of money just for them to look.

Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas on what else it could be? Jeep drives fine with no signs or sounds of low oil pressure. The only reason I actually want to get it fixed is I am going to be looking to sell it in a few weeks. Not that this should make any difference as things break as they get old but it only has 68k miles.

Thank you for your help.

I'd recommend using a Mopar oil pressure sensor.

Two things: put a gauge on it to be sure. I have found 65 lbs cold (28 deg outside) and 45 lbs hot both at idle. I use 10w40 oils strictly year round. Vehicle has 82k on wife’s keep
