2007 Liberty steering wheel tries to lock while driving.

Hello all! My girlfriend's 07 Liberty has had this issue off and on. Nothing we do can make this happen, it just seems to lock randomly while in motion. Any idea on where to start? Not sure where the actual locking mechanism is. I would assume in the steering column but I can't find a diagram anywhere.

Really? I didn't think it would be apart of the lock cylinder but I'll look into that. Thanks!
