The time has come, 3 years on my sister's Liberty and it's time for the battery to get changed!

I've noticed that the Jeep seems to be slower and slower to start. I pay a lot of attention to the WAY the Jeep starts up and it's certainly only got a few months left before it's dead completely. And some of us know how that feels first hand. :) There's no reason why the Liberty should be cranking up like it's 15ºF outside...

55k miles.

Any recommendations as far as battery? Are Diehards really as good as Sears says they are?

just replaced the 4 year old battery in my wife's liberty. It was the factory battery, I wanted to get an optima redtop but autozone said it was special order and wanted $219.99. I bought a duralast GOLD with 800cca 1000ca, it is much nicer and bigger then the stock battery. $84.99, can't beat that. I think the stock was 600cca

If you're going to go off road a lot, I don't recommend a lead acid battery. The Optimas cost more, but they are very resistant to vibrations.

As batteries go, nothing wrong with a good ole die hard if you're mall crawling.

Good day,
Jen said that this morning the Jeep didn't so much as even click!
Second time around it just fired up without a problem.
I was going to go to Wal mart just accross the border and buy an Optima there, but if autozone sells them for $220.00 US$ then there is not much point. The Wal mart here (It's less than a mile from our front door) sells them for $240.00 Canadian...
May as well just buy one here.

The new optima's are not worth $180 or $220.

You can get a great battery for 1/2 that price.

Im an optima man, but all mine I got for less then $100 off ebay.

Optimas are known for handling vibrations, not sure where you got that from. Its even one of their big 'selling points.'

Either way, we got our two optimas at advance auto parts. Mine was $100 and the other was $150 but we bought the second one around two years later. It also has 1000CA where mine only has 800CA or so. Three year warranty and it has the date right on the battery so you know its not been sitting around for two years.

My current optima will be 3 years old this october. Ive killed it three times(slap dead) now and its still doing fine. :)

Blake, you've been studying too much. :p He said they're very resistant to vibrations, which is what you just said. (Sort of...)

We ended up getting a Diehard Gold. 795 CCA. 3 Year Replacement Warranty.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
I replaced the crappy OEM battery the second week I owned my KJ(bought it brand new) with a Optima Red Top,3 years later I swapped in a Yellow Top due to adding a winch. The Red Top I had is now in my fathers truck, still going strong for a almost 7 year old battery.

In Iraq and Afganistan we swapped in Optima Red Tops in all the vehicles since the excide batteries the military usually gets would not last more then a week before they fried.

I'll put it in this afternoon while she's at work. I couldn't find my 10" extension... still can't find it but if I need to buy a new one, so be it.

Wheelchair battery? What did you have it in?

I've had the kj for 3 years now. Not sure if the battery was ever replaced but it still works fine.

Yeah I pressured her to go ahead and get it now, because of several reasons:

1. Batteries die at the worst possible times. (Usually)
2. My sister's Jeep has 55k on it.
3. She panics quickly, and harshly.
4. I don't feel like getting up to jump it. :D

I am still running the OEM battery and it seems fine and it is just over 3 years old now so we will see how much longer it lasts.

We've only historically been able to get no more than 3 years from a Chrysler battery, so that's why it was replaced. And like I said, I could tell that it was getting weak.
