Just a question.

We recently purchased a 2004 Liberty Rocky Mountain and of course NO owners manual.

My question, if I put it into 4 high, what is the maximum speed it can be driven?

Welcome!! The owners manual is in a hidden compartment that is just above the glove box when you open up the glove box door.

So you have the command trac transfer case. Of the two transfer cases offered on the liberty the command trac the least problem sum and also it has shift forks and the selec trac uses something different. Also in 4 wheel high you can drive just as fast as you would would in 2 wheel high but you can only shift into 4 wheel high when you are moving 55 mph and lower.

I assume it's standard trans. Lever is 2hi 4hi n 4l

Then you have the CommandTrac transfer case. You can shift into 4HI at any speed up to 55mph and in theory drive as fast as you want. However...

In 4HI (which shows up as Part Time on the dash) you can only drive on slippery surfaces such as snow, gravel, mud or sand. Wet roads don't cut it. So to drive 65mph in 4HI you should be on a slippery surface - which doesn't sound like such a good idea :emotions34:

Here's a YouTube video from Jeep that explains the CommandTrac...

My 2 cents, if its slippery enough out to need 4 WD then you shouldn't be worried about how fast you can go . Good tires and good common sense driving skills take you a lot further than 4 WD does
I also have the Command Trac that you do and very very rarely do I engage it. Only usually on one gravel roads that are well beyond slippery.
Driving down the Interstate I've never had to

Thanks for all the help guys.

I just was curious, if I need 4x4 I drive slow.

Renegade and LibertyTC I did find the manual where you all said it would be. Damn sneaky place to put it.

Hedsic, thanks for the link. I'm gonna try it to see just how she was built.

Thanks again.

Glad to hear you found your manual it took me 4 months from the time I purchased my liberty to finally find the owners manual and by then it was useless because I had already learned all the features.
