9.6:1 compression pistons in 2002 3.7

I'm needing to rebuild my 2002 3.7 after dropping a valve seat. Not a lot of information out there but it seems that my unit had factory 9.0: 1 compression pistons. Is there any reason I cannot use the after 2005 Master rebuild kit to take advantage of the 9.6: 1 ratio? From what I have seen, the later model kits are cheaper as well. I was looking at engine tech brand as I feel they are quality. I have built plenty engines before just been mostly small block Chevys so I'm used to a lot more options for parts.

I did find it interesting that the later years they have more compression but it still made exactly the same rated horsepower. I didn't check in to see whether it helped fuel mileage. Probably isn't worth the headache, wasn't really thinking that the compression would bump it outside the parameters the computer but if that would happen that would be a major pain

Additional information if anybody is interested. I went ahead and built my 2002 3.7 back to factory. What I have found is, Pistons for all models are the same. They varied the compression slightly by changing from a d-shaped combustion chamber to a peanut shaped combustion chamber. It seems that all peanut shape combustion chambers are in the heads that have EGR valves. The reason I did not go with the higher compression heads when the heads would cost the same is that the later model has a different grind and duration on the camshafts. I think it would be possible to put early camshafts in a late model head and vice versa but I didn't feel that the gain was worth the headache.
