Before Jen and I install our Super Skink's I was toying with the idea of welding in two 2" receivers, one right behind the front wheels and one right in front of the rear wheels.

Why you folks ask?

We are going to be upgrading our front winch to a Warn 9.5K unit. That way I can install the one we currently have onto the receiver winch mount that I have sitting around.
I think that it could come in real handy for pulling our vehicle from the side for when we're really stuck in it, or slide it into the rear trailer hitch receiver for a rear recovery or for winching a vehicle onto a flat deck trailer.

My question is:

Are the sliders and their mounting points strong enough for such a side pull or are they not strong enough/designed for that type of application?

I figure that it couldn't hurt to ask.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
The sliders would handle a small load but the body will not.Not designed to handle side loads like that and remain in a straight line. The rocker panel area is a crumple zone for side impacts.

x2...pulling directly from the side may twist something out of shape, still best to use a snatch block off at an angle from either front or back. Moons ago a ********* 4wheeler friend did the receiver winch deal just for this purpose and used it all the time from the back, so good idea.
