Liberty a/c was not working for two years due to leak in whatever is right inside the front grille (rock from road?). Finally got new whatever (condenser?) installed. A/c now blows cool air BUT there is a loud intermittent clanking/swishing noise as well as odor when it's on. Dealer says this is because clutch in other a/c part (compressor?) is rusty & making noise when it moves in and out and, what's worse, can result in complete stop which will destroy the belt! Only suggested fix is to shell out much more $ for new compressor (may have the 2 parts backwards, sorry). What to do? Ask them to remove the new part (Liberty was working perfectly except for lack of a/c before this)? Spring for the second part - but worry that something else will go wrong? Suggestions? Experience?

Do you want the A/C to work still? If yes then you do need to get the compressor clutch fixed(the rust from 2 years of non-use would happen). If you don't care if the A/C works just simply pull the A/C fuze and it will not work anymore.

Oh and by the way this is the KK section, might want to post in the regular KJ section for more responses.
