ac problems

i am hoping that some one can help me i have a 2007 jeep liberty the ac compressor looks it is leaking oil out around the shaft it collecting on the clutch should i go ahead and do a bypass on the ac before it locks up

Technically, the compressor clutch should not engage if the leak is enough to loose the gas or pressure. If you won't take a chance, you can apply the bypass or disconnect the electrical wire on the compressor. The second solution means that you don't have any issue with the clutch bearing but only a leaking issue.
