Well I got some Alpine 600 2-way speakers. Now my question is, why do I need to disconnect my tweeters. The warning said that if the tweeters are connected in parrallel with the speakers there might be damage made to the speakers. I do not have the money to buy new speakers with seperate tweeters so I was wondering if any1 knew if I can reconnect my stock tweeters without damaging the Alpine speakers. I have looked on the net to try and find if the tweeters are in parrallel or series. My thinking is that they are parrallel. If any1 knows more or had the same issue can u please let me know.

If you use you're Alpine x-overs and you connect two speakers to your tweeter output, you change the impedance and therefore the x-over point; which can be devastating to a tweeter. If you're going to leave the tweeter in the dash for whatever reason and it is in no way connected to your x-overs, you'll be OK. Might sound asstastic, but there will be no damage to either speaker.

My alpine speakers have tweeters integrated into them. It would make sense that the impedence would change.

the stock tweeters are 8 ohm and they are crossed over approx at 8000hz,

all u have to do is remove the grab pillars and then carefully pry off the panel over the tweets - to get at em....they plug in right underneath where they mount, u will need a DEEP 5.5mm socket to remove the grab rails.

No, that's not how it works. If you have 4 ohm speakers, and the ones you got that have built in tweeters, then it's 4 ohms, no more, no less. If they are 6ohm, then that's just the way it is made, it is not result of the tweeter, because you bought a 6ohm speaker. Why? Because you can by Coaxials at the same rating as yours, period.

A 4ohm coaxial; the main speaker, and tweeter would be 8 ohms each, wired in parallel gives it the 4 ohms required. You should not assume that since it is a 3-way, or coaxial, that it is more impedance than your stock one because of the added drivers. You would have to have BOUGHT the speaker at wrong rating, as a 6ohm or 8ohm speaker, meaning, you did not look at the box.
