Ive been to checker, autozone and napa and no one has the filter. They only have filters for the 45rfe. Autozone was the only one that even had the option for a 42rle, but it said it was unavailable. I have I'm pretty sure I have the 42rle - its an 03 sport, oil pan has 13 bolts and the filter is smaller and more square shaped than the 45rfe that I bought to try out.

Does anyone have a part number for the 42rle ****** filter?

Thanks,
Allan

The Factory Parts Manual has two numbers listed - 52852913AA and 52852913AB. The 'AB' model is apparently for transmissions built after 1/27/03 according to that parts book, but the 'AA' unit shows to work in both. For an '08 Liberty Autozone shows a part number of TF175. The only filter they list for the '03 Liberty is a TF98 which is a spin-on type and we don't have that one to my knowledge. I think the '08s still run the 42RLE...

Oh, Autozone shows the TF175 available for $13.99 at my local store.

sweet, autozone had the TF175 filter. I'll be sure to remember that for in the future.

Thanks!

x2. I posted the number but wasn't sure it would be the correct filter. If it is then we'll add it to the repository of 'useful information the parts stores don't know'... ;)

Many people on here and LOST say that most autoparts store give you the filter for the 45RFE ******. So make sure it is the right part, before you drop the pan.

Well based on what Allan wrote here:

It looks like he's already dropped the pan at least once to know that the filter he needs is more square-shaped. And just so we have the obligatory visual aide:

Yes, the TF175 filter from Autozone was an exact match. It came with a new o-ring and a rubber pan gasket.

I had my pan already dropped, so I was able to bring the filter with me to compare before I bought it. It looks just like the square filter in the picture Corwyyn posted.

Thanks for the help guys!!
