Black side skirts???

do these actually do anything? I have installed the side rails and they stick out too far to where you leg rubs on them every time you get out. I want to cut holes in the ends to allow my bars to be remounted to sit almost flush against the rest of the skirt? Let me know If my question is not very clear and I can take some pictures.

You can remove it.

The plastic rocker guards are not a structural piece, if that's what you're asking. They're for looks and so a painted steel surface isn't facing downward to get rock chips on it from the wheels. You can remove it and cut the flared bulges at the ends if you want. You probaby won't want to remove them entirely as you won't like the looks of what is left.
