The temp gauge is in the center and the heat works fine. No cooling leak or low coolant. The thermostat was replaced about 1 1/2 years ago. Runs perfect. It's been sitting alot lately so I drove it yesterday and today to get some miles on it, otherwise it sat 2 weeks.

********sorry, code p1281

All over
I agree with tjkj2002, start at the t-stat. And get an OEM one. I replaced mine with an aftermarket one over the Christmas holidays and put about 2000 miles on it without issue. While I was out of town for work my wife called me and told me the check engine light was on and I had her pull the code. Swapped out with an OEM one and haven't had any codes since.

Through my research these motors ( 3.7, 4.7) work best with OEM t-stat. I found several things where someone had an issue with that code and it was related to the non OEM t-stat and it was fixed by replacing with the OEM part.

Good luck,
Andrew
