so finally at 130k miles its time to get rid of all the creaks and groans in the front suspension. One major thing that has been making me mad is my driverside coils has been making noise for a couple months and finally i pulled it out to try and figure it out. The noise is distinctly a coil noise.

There was no other damage to be seen. I saw that it was rubbing on the wall. any ideas whats causeing this and if its normal? Any ideas how to fix it.

the only thing i came up with is to grind a grade into the wall and sand it smooth so it rubs smoothly on the wall rather then rubbing and making noise.

im going to be getting RRO A arms soon, that wont help this situtation will it.

Wonder if the bushing on LCA is wore? And if it would cause that? Might just beat the tar out of that place to clearance it a little.

Just saw another post, you say your running LD OME springs with a spacer, wonder if the spring is just spreading out as well as sagging because of this?

i can take a pic in a little bit. Whats rubbing is the last ring of the coil, the spacer, and at some point im pretty sure the wide part of the strut has hit it.

ill take a pic of the bushings and of the strut itself and post those in a little bit

I dont think the coil is spreading out either its just rubbing flush against the wall, theres marks on the spacer

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
There is a way to correct that without any mods but it will require a alignment afterwards.

1-loosen all 4 LCA cam blots and rotate them all to the inward position, the wide part of the cam washer is pointed outwards towards the wheels and retighten the bolts.

2-put KJ on jack stands,do not place them on the engine cradle but on the unibody.

3-loosen the 4 bolts holding the engine cradle to the unibody. Some early KJ's had centering bolts also, will need a very wide flat tip screwdriver to turn those(big bolt looking things just behind the coils on the unibody).

4-pry the cradle left/right until it is perfectly centered or you have equal space between the coils and the unibody.

5-re-torque the cradle bolts and get a alignment.

This may help with the issue since the LCA cam bolts control camber/caster and will move the LCA's in/out which can make one coil closer to the body then the other.

its already on jack stands so im probably going to have to try this\\:D/

Yeah there real nice but a pain to actually adjust.I had issues with them when I removed my OE cradle since they where seized.

You will see a bolt head, you need to remove that bolt,it is very long and there is not nut to hold on the other end. After you remove that long bolt shine a flash light in the hole(the nut looking thing will still be there) and you will see a inner sleeve that has two slots in it,you will need a very wide flat tip, about 3/4" wide if I remember to turn the inner sleeve.Just remember you must loosen both sides 1st then adjust.
