Typical CRD problem.
The goodish news... Typically shuddering is an air in fuel problem. Adding a lift$pump inthe tank is the best solution. Alternatively you can add an in-line fuel pump. The original plastic fuel filter head is plastic and melts/leaks around the heater element connector letting air in and fuel out. Pop the hood and look at it; If the electric plug on the right is blue life is good... you have the "gen 2" filter head made out of metal. Any doubt just scratch the paint. The crimp connector on the fuel filter supply line has been known to let some air in and the plastic fuel connectors on top of the fuel tank are notorious for letting air in. They can be replaced with fuel hose and screw clamps.
Try pumping the hand pump and bleeding the bubbles out at the filter head. Then see how long it takes for the shuddering comes back to get some sense of how much air is getting in. Change the fuel filter and be carefull of the wiring harness behind the filter head bracket if you take that loose during the change.
If bleeding the air out didn't stop the shuddering at all then it might be bad news. Stock torque converters quit and pumps go bad. There are better torque converters to put in there, euro, suncoast, and ram. Try running an extra quart of transmission fluid. The dipstick reads low. Change the transmission filters. I found some production trash in mine... drilling chips and such.
