Do any aftermarket stereos allow you to use the steering wheel controls?

I'm still running the factory stereo (plus Mopar iPod kit) in my '05 Liberty Limited. I'm ready to upgrade the head unit but I really, really like the steering wheel controls for volume and track up/down. Do any aftermarket HUs interface with those, or do you inevitably lose the steering wheel controls when you shift to an aftermarket unit?

Go to Crutchfield (dot-com) and select "what fits my car". It will give you a list of HU's and let you know if there is an available interface for the steering controls.

I recently bought a new Pioneer HU with Bluetooth for my cell phone. I was able to program 2 of my steering wheel buttons to answer and end phone calls.

Of course, I had to get rid of track up/down to accommodate that, but it was well worth it.

What I would like to get is ability to program cruise buttons to control stuff, like an air horn, lights and additional function on the radio.

Air Horn set up should be pretty easy if we could open them up and wire a circuit to the button directly, but other stuff should be pretty cool too.

I bought PAC wired steering wheel control interface for my kenwood, and I will end up getting beaten with a stick by JeepJeepster for not installing it yet (Got it in thanksgiving!) So to answer your question, yes you can get wired or infrared steering wheel interfaces, do yourself a favor, go with a Head Unit that has wired steering wheel control input. Otherwise you just have to get a wired Infrared remote control and mount it some place where it can see your H/U.
