I have done alot of searching and cant quite find the answer i was looking for on this site and through google. The problem is that my front woofers on my winter car a 2003 jeep liberty with an infinity sound system have blown (havent looked yet if they just need to be re-foamed or not). I want to replace the speaker because it is bothering me and i like my music. I dont really have cash right now because im not working and am just a full time student. I have my woofers that came in my 2000 camaro with a monsoon system and was hoping i could use them since they have a really bass. These speaker are 2 ohm rated. can i use these? i know some of the article mention having to take off the included amps that come on the speakers and lengthing the wires, but dont directly say if that is for 2 ohm speakers or 4 ohm. I have the know how to do the amps, but dont want to ruin the speaker. So basically my question is whether i have to remove and replace the amps for 2 ohm speaker or not.

By the way i cant just rip everything out and replace it with aftermarket, while i would like to do this i just dont have the money. of course if anyone want to give me their system for free i will take it lol.

Thank you for your help.

The front door speakers with the infinity system have amps mounted on the speakers them self. If you want, you can take the amp off and mount the amp inside the door somewhere then use your speakers. I have no idea what ohm the stock speakers are but for some reason 4 ohm pops out.

I just had both of my front speakers blown (driver side for the 2nd time) there is an instruction here someplace on how to glue them back on, which is what I am planning to do at least try it before I go and try to replace my speakers.

I have the amp already so it should not be a big problem, except for the mess of the wiring.

Hi,

2Ohm. I ditched my amps and rewired in a new DIN sized head unit and new speakers. A crossover went in the doors for the tweeters and I just connected the 'incoming' wires to the 'outgoing' wires for the rear speakers.

Works a treat!:smokin:

For what its worth I got Chrysler to pay for replacement of our 2002 Liberty Infinity door speaker that failed this past year. The other one failed under warranty.
