I was installing a new radio in a 2003 jeep libery. When I was finished I started the car up and the radio failed to turn on. In addition, the cabin lights won't turn on, the doors won't lock and the remote won't lock or unlock the car when the car is off. However if the car is on then the remote lock and unlock works. All the fuses I've checked so far seem to be fine

Was the battery disconnected during the repair process?

No the battery was connected . When I was taking the wiring harnest off some wires touch each other and made a spark and that's when the cabin lights shut off. So far all the fuses I've checked seem fine

Ah... this is important information. Also, always disconnect the battery before working on the vehicles electrical system; but you probably know that now, after the fact.

So a couple things possible here, either you still have a fuse, or fuseable link blown somewhere, or you blew out and destroyed the body control module (BCM), which controls all of the features you mentioned (interior lighting, locking controls, others).

Someone more knowledgeable on troubleshooting a faulty BCM will have to chime in here; but here's to hoping you just blew a fuse and haven't found it yet.

I've checked all and replaced multiple fuses. Also I have switched around resistors in hope of finding a bad resistors. The problem is still not fixed

I had the exact same issue a while back when I swapped out my head unit. I was an idiot and didn't disconnect the battery and one of the wires shorted out.

Anyway, it was a 15 amp fuse I had to replace. It was in the fuse panel that's inside on the drivers side. I believe the fuse was under a cover of some sort. The fuse was labeled something along the lines of BCM. It was a few years ago and I don't remember all of the details.

in the fuse panel in the drivers side door jamb area
fuse #6 20A bcm/door locks
fuse #13 10A bcm/cluster
fuse #34 15A bcm/interior lights/radio etc

i'd start with #34
if you have heated seats, they're also a 15A fuse in cavity #30 you can just steal that fuse for the time being

#18 is radio choke/relay 20A

any idea what wires touched each other? the radio harness is module clipped so they shouldnt be able to touch to ground on anything

The problem has been fixed. My neighbor found the problem. He said it was two fuses inside the BCM that you can't see unless you take it out. Thank you everyone for all the help !
