Hi new member here. Has anyone found one of the elm 327 Bluetooth obd2 readers that work on a 2002 liberty? I have one of the cheeper units from Amazon it works fine on my 2005 Cherokee but for some reason can't communicate with ecu in my 02 liberty Ltd or my 1997 f-150. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Hmm not terribly sure.

2005 Cherokee? not a US-market vehicle I take it? I know the bluetooth OBD scanner/diagnostic tools are very popular, especially with the android phone using crowd, especially because of the cost, but I bought an Innova 3160d on Amazon for about $135. I needed something for my Acadia that could read Air bag and ABS codes.

It works great on my Liberty and gives me lots of diagnostic information and live sensor data.

Is there a specific fault or malfunction you are wanting to troubleshoot, or just looking for something to spit out MIL codes and track fuel mileage and basic sensor data?

I have a very cheap one that works on my 02. Looks to be completely generic as far as I can tell. Maybe 10 bucks. I use Torque on my HTC one.

I'm trying to use the paid version of torque with the blue VGATE brand from eBay paid bout $11 or $12 for it. Did you have to change any settings in the app to work?

I'm using the free version or "Lite". No adjustments were necessary for what I need to see. Here's the unit I'm using:

It's too bad your in KY; if you were closer to me here in MI, I'd just meet up and scan whatever OBD-II vehicle you had. Sometimes it is nice to have a big, full featured scan tool.

I should check though, my brother uses an inexpensive bluetooth scan tool he bought from amazon, links it with his phone. Worked great to scan my uncles Mercedes, worked awesome on his old Subaru and on his current Scion xA.

If I find out what it is, I'll post it here.

Thanks I have another scan tool from advanced auto that works good just would like to have the real time data. I'm about to do a 2din DVD/nav stereo headunit upgrade today when the Fed ex truck delivery arrives it has Android OS so I'll get the torque app and see if its just my phone before looking for a new elm327 unit
