Hey guys, this my first time posting so I appologize if I screwed something up.
I bought a 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport 4X4 with 32,000 miles a while back. Its time for my oil change but I cannot make it to the dealership to get it done because they close at the same time I get off work. I am thinking about ordering a Mopar oil filter and just taking it to the local oil change place. My question is, what else do they check and do at the dealership when they change your oil? Like do they grease anything or do anything else that the regular oil change place will not do. I don't want to miss any maintenace steps that dealership does by taking it to the local oil change.
Thank you very much.

Don't worry. Just take it to a trusted local shop, and have them do the work. Mopar oil change does not have magic dust in it. So any brand of oil, and brand of oil filter will work just fine. Keep the receipt and make sure they use correct grade oil. Repeat after 3-5k miles.

Dealer will not touch anything for free, let alone greasing it (Other than your interior or your leather seats with their greasy fingers!!!!!!!)

Yep, any reputable place will work just fine...(express oil, texaco xpress lube, heck even wal-mart isn't any worse than the dealer). Most places charge about the same too, I get mine done at a local tire place that I trust...and I know a guy so that helps too, but they change my oil with castrol gtx, new filter, and check all the fluid levels and stuff for $21 (without a discount).

I beg to differ on this. I've seen the results of running the cheap dyno oil, along with cheap filters on an engines that ranged from severe use (lots of short distance driving) to easy use (lots of highway)...and NEITHER were pretty (I couldn't believe the sludge build up in the severely used engine).

If you're going to run dyno, PLEASE stay away from the crap like Penzoil and Quacker State ( i mean QUAKER state)....also AVOID Fram filters like the plague...

As far as lube jobs go, there are no front end components to grease on the Liberty (where the LUBE in an "oil, filter and lube" service comes in)....so dont let them talk you into extra for greasing the front end. All the joints are the "sealed" units, and cann't be greased (which is a big part of the problem with the lower ball joint issue).
