I thought I'd write this quick posting to mention that not all overhead consoles are EVIC's. This week I managed to pick up an overhead console from a salvage yard thinking it was an EVIC however when I got home I discovered its actually an OTIS from an 03 Liberty. You can recognize it by shining a light through the display. An OTIS display looks like an LED clock display while an EVIC display is more complicated.

The difference between the two isn't that great, I'm not all that bothered however I may keep an eye or for a real EVIC for an 04 Liberty to give me the functionality.

Is there any great difference between the two besides the ability to program lock function?

The display, programmable features (not just locks), interface with TP sensors. Pretty much anything that is changeable within the BCM can be controlled with an EVIC.
