My '02's fan seems to have quit working on the settings 2 and 3. My aunt was telling me about how the same thing happened in her Liberty, as well as my cousin's and my cousin's wife's Liberty. Apparently it's a relatively cheap piece to buy and fix, but I forgot what she told me it was called. Does anyone know? The temperature and such works, it's just the blower that seems to have quit. Works on 1 and works on 4, but nothing in between.

Blower Motor Resistor. It's behind the glovebox. They're a very common failure point in any vehicle these days. I haven't had to replace one yet, knock on wood. I dunno what's wrong, they're just cheap pieces of crap, lol. $20 from the dealer.

Kind of a long-winded thread in the 'How-to' section but there are some good pics on page two of what you are looking for.

I replaced mine before I found that it was the blower motor, AFAIK the original is still good. Might have to throw an ohm meter on it and see what I get...

Probably cheap resistors. Parts like that are outsourced and a random sample is taken for reliability.. Guess their sample had all good parts, haha.
