i understand but i have had this thing for 2000 + miles and it still seems to be making the sound. i took it to the dealer, they looked at it and said" the breaks were rubbing" they fixed it and then it came back a few hundred miles later. anyone else who has this problem let me know

It's like he said...not your problem. You just paid over 20K for a brand new vehicle...you don't have to worry about problems. That's the dealers responsibility right now. Make them get it right.

Oh I see, well they should still get that fixed, mine dosen't do this at all. And if it did it would be back at the dealership till it gets fixed.

Brakes have a 11,000 mile warranty because they are expendible part. You have time, don't let the dealership intimidate you, if you don't like what they say, go to another dealership.

I agree, that is what your warranty is for. I also have a 2006 and I have not experienced this problem. Just take it back to the dealer till they get it right.

I think it might just be rust from sitting around all night. My car does the same thing in the morning but goes away after a few stops. If I stays forever and doesn't go away then I would say you have an issue.

Mine 06 with 700 Miles on it does the same thing... It seems to only do it when it sits outside all night in the cold. When I go to start it the next morning is when I hear the noise... After about a minute of driving it stops and doesnt do it again. I dont think its anything major though.

Overnight

My 04 has a brake moan when I back out of my parking spot at full lock on a cold morning. It has nothing to do with rust, but metal contracts as it cools and expands when it heats up. When it's cold, everything is closer together so something might rub.

When it's cold and contracted shouldn't the part be further apart than when the metal is hot

Cold vs. hot

That's a good point. I was thinking about the calipers pulling closer together, or the pistons in the calipers. But now that you mention it it doesn't make sense. I'm going to try pumping my brakes and see if that makes a difference.

Pumping the brakes did nothing for me, the dealer called me today, after multiple discussion with them on the brake issue, I just don't believe that a new $20,000 plus vehicle should have these problems, they are going to change the pads and rotors

Brakes

Pumping didn't help me this morning. Mine only does it when backing up at full lock on a cold morning. It's very minor and is definately the on the front brakes, probably the driver's side. It's not enough of an issue to worry about now. Are the brakes covered under warranty, the 3 year/36,000 miles? I might start ******** at the 2.5 year mark or 30,000 miles just for some new brakes.

Brakes are only warranted for 12 months or 12,000 miles, I was told this by the service manager during one of our discussions when I told him I was going to go aftermarket, then they would try and void my warranty, he said go ahead, the brakes are only warranted as stated above. I looked in the om and that is correct. Don't know why they suddenly had a change of mind and decided to replace the pads and rotors, may have something to do with the Chrysler customer satisfaction i recently completed.

i've noticed that mine does it once in a while too. It also makes a delightful faint whistling type sound when the vent are set to defog the windshield, which stops once the car is warmed up... Gonna get both checked when i go in for my first oil change...
